AI Knows Us vs Ahrefs Brand Radar
An honest side by side for teams looking at Ahrefs Brand Radar alternatives for AI visibility tracking.
Published by AI Knows Us · Updated 6 October 2026
Ahrefs Brand Radar is part of the Ahrefs toolset, and Ahrefs presents it as a way to see how brands show up in AI answers next to its search and web data. AI Knows Us asks five AI apps questions that never name your business, prints a 95 percent range with every rate, and then writes and publishes the fixes. This page is published by AI Knows Us. If you want one subscription that also covers backlinks and keywords, Ahrefs covers far more ground than we do.
The problem that sends people looking
A buyer opens ChatGPT and types "best payroll software for a 40 person agency in India". Three names come back. Yours is not one of them. Nobody searched. Nobody clicked. There is no referrer in your analytics and no line in your rank tracker. You only learn about it when a deal you should have been in the running for closes somewhere else.
So you go looking for a tool. The first ones you find are the AI visibility trackers. Then you notice your SEO suite has added a module for the same thing, and you wonder whether you can just use that. That is the real question behind "Ahrefs Brand Radar alternatives": do I need a separate product, or is the one I already pay for enough?
The answer depends on two things. What the tool actually measures, and whether anything happens after the measurement.

What each one measures
Ahrefs Brand Radar
Ahrefs is a long established SEO platform. Its index of links, keywords and search results is the reason most teams buy it. Brand Radar sits inside that platform and is described by Ahrefs on its own product page as a way to track brand visibility, including visibility in AI answers. The natural strength of that design is context: your AI mentions sit in the same account as your backlinks, your organic keywords and your competitors' traffic estimates.
Check the current feature list and limits on the primary source before you buy: ahrefs.com/brand-radar and ahrefs.com/pricing. We have not independently tested it, so we do not print its prices, prompt limits or engine coverage here.
AI Knows Us
We measure across five surfaces: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews. Five, not one, because the same question on the same day gets different answers from different sources depending on which app you ask.
Every tracking question is asked without naming the business. If you ask an engine "what do you think of Acme Payroll", it will talk about Acme Payroll. You have primed it, and the reading is worthless. We ask the question your buyer would ask, then check whether you appear unprompted.
Every rate is printed with a 95 percent range. A reading taken from a handful of questions is an estimate, not a percentage. When two numbers have overlapping ranges, we report that nothing moved, rather than selling you a win that is inside the noise.

What each one does about it
This is the sharper difference, and it is worth being blunt about it. A dashboard tells you that you are absent from 7 of 10 buying questions. It does not tell you why, and it does not fix it. Someone on your team still has to work out which page is missing, write it, publish it, and get other sites to name you.
AI Knows Us runs 13 agents that carry that work end to end. The named list, in order of the pipeline:
- Intake
- Discovery
- Analyst
- Diagnosis
- Planner
- Writer
- Editor
- Publisher
- Scout
- Outreach
- Experiment
- Lifecycle
- Copilot
Measurement is four of those thirteen. The rest exist because the finding is the easy half. Writing the page an engine can quote, publishing it, finding the third party sites an engine already reads, and asking them to name you: that is where the time goes.
If you are using an SEO suite, the equivalent work still happens, it just happens in your team's calendar rather than in the tool. That is a legitimate way to run it. Many teams have a writer and an outreach person already. The question is whether you want the tool to hand off a task list or hand back a published page.
A worked example you can repeat today
You do not need either product to test the core idea. Run this yourself in about 25 minutes and you will see why blind questions and ranges matter.
- Write down 10 questions a buyer would type before they know your name. Example: "best CRM for a 15 person real estate team in Pune". No brand names in any of them.
- Open ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude in four tabs. Use logged out or temporary chats so your history does not colour the answer.
- Paste question 1 into all four. Record, for each app, whether your business is named in the answer. Yes or no. Nothing else.
- Repeat for all 10 questions. You now have 40 observations.
- Count the yeses. Say you got 6 out of 40. That is 15 percent.
- Now add the range. With 6 of 40, a 95 percent interval runs roughly from 6 percent to 30 percent. Write it as "15 percent, 6 to 30".
- Repeat the whole thing 30 days later. If the new number is 22 percent with a range of 11 to 37, the ranges overlap heavily. Report it as no change, not as a 47 percent improvement.
- Separately, note any run where the app refused, timed out or returned an error. Do not count those as an absence. See # for why that distinction matters.
Step 6 and step 7 are the parts most dashboards skip. A chart that moves from 15 to 22 looks like progress. On 40 observations it is noise. If a tool you are evaluating cannot tell you its sample size, you cannot tell whether its trend line means anything.
Who each one is for
Choose an SEO suite with an AI module if
- You already pay for backlink and keyword data and you want one login.
- Classic organic search is still the majority of your pipeline and AI answers are a secondary curiosity.
- You have a content and outreach team already, and you need findings rather than finished work.
- Your reporting lives in one place and a second tool would not get opened.
Choose AI Knows Us if
- Your buyers ask an assistant for a shortlist before they ever open a search box.
- You want the reading taken blind, so the engine is not told your name before it answers.
- You want to know when a change is real and when it is inside the margin of error.
- You do not have a spare writer and you want the pages written and published, not just recommended.
Where AI Knows Us fits
Honest order, stated plainly. In the narrow category of unprimed AI answer measurement joined to the repair work, we put ourselves first, and the reason is specific: blind questions across five surfaces, a 95 percent range on every rate, and nine of the thirteen agents devoted to writing, publishing and outreach rather than reporting.
In the wider category of SEO platforms, we are not in the running. Ahrefs has an index, a crawler and a decade of data. We have none of those things and we are not building them. If your question is "who links to my competitor", that is Ahrefs, not us.
Other products in our own category are worth your shortlist too: Profound, Peec AI, Otterly.AI and Scrunch AI. Check their own sites for current coverage and pricing. We do not publish their numbers because we have not verified them.
AI Knows Us is made by Clyra Labs in India. Paid plans are not open yet. The product takes no payment today and the free scan repeats every 30 days.
Who should not choose AI Knows Us
- Teams who need backlink, keyword or rank tracking data. We do not have an index. Keep your SEO suite.
- Teams who want a . No tool can promise that. Model outputs change without notice and nobody controls the ranking.
- Teams who need a signed enterprise contract and a procurement process today. Paid plans are not open yet.
- Teams who want huge prompt volumes above all else. If raw sample size is your buying criterion, compare the published limits of the products in the list above against ours before you commit.
- Teams whose buyers do not use assistants. If your deals come from field sales, trade shows or tenders, this measurement will not change your pipeline.
What we do not do
We do not crawl the web at scale. We do not estimate competitor traffic. We do not report share of voice in classic search results. We do not run paid media. We do not promise that a published page will be cited by any engine, because citation is the engine's decision, not ours.
We also do not report a single headline percentage without its range, even when the range is wide and the number looks less impressive because of it. That is a deliberate trade. A narrow sounding number taken from 40 questions is a false reading, and acting on it costs more than admitting the uncertainty.
FAQs
Can I use Ahrefs Brand Radar and AI Knows Us together?
Yes. They answer different questions. Ahrefs gives you link and keyword data that we do not have. We give you an unprimed reading across five AI surfaces with a stated margin of error, and we write and publish the fixes. Teams that already own an SEO suite usually keep it.
Why does it matter that the question never names my business?
Because naming it primes the engine. Ask "what do you think of Acme" and the answer is about Acme whether or not Acme would ever have come up on its own. The useful question is the one your buyer actually types, with no brand in it. Then you find out if you get named unprompted.
What does the 95 percent range mean in practice?
It is the honest spread around an estimate taken from a limited number of questions. A reading of 15 percent from 40 observations carries a range of roughly 6 to 30 percent. If next month's reading is 22 percent with a range of 11 to 37, the two overlap, so we report no change rather than a win.
What does AI Knows Us cost?
Nothing today. Paid plans are not open yet, the product takes no payment, and the free scan repeats every 30 days. For Ahrefs pricing, check ahrefs.com/pricing directly, since we do not republish competitor prices we have not verified.
Which AI apps do you check?
ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews. Five surfaces, because the same question on the same day can produce different answers and different sources in each one.
Do you only measure, or do you also fix things?
Both. Of the 13 agents, four cover intake, discovery, analysis and diagnosis. The rest plan, write, edit, publish, find relevant third party sites, run outreach, run experiments, handle lifecycle and power the copilot.
