How to get your business listed on G2
A step by step guide to creating, claiming and filling a G2 product profile, and what to write so AI assistants can quote it.
Published by AI Knows Us · Updated 7 October 2026
Anyone can add a product to G2 for free. You submit the product at G2's "add a product" form, prove you represent the company, pick categories, then wait for G2's moderation team to approve it. Approval usually takes a few business days. The slow part is reviews: G2 requires ten or more approved reviews before a product can appear in a Grid report. Fill the profile with plain, dated facts, because that is the text assistants repeat.
This page is published by AI Knows Us, a product made by Clyra Labs in India. We sell AI visibility work, so read the limits note at the end before you treat this as neutral.
Why G2 shows up in AI answers
Ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews for "the best helpdesk software for a 20 person team" and you rarely get a vendor's own homepage as the backing source. You get a comparison page, a listicle, a Reddit thread, or a review site. G2 is one of the review sites that keeps turning up, because its product pages are structured the way an answer engine likes: one product per page, a category label, a named feature list, pricing where the vendor has published it, and review text written by people who say which company they work for.
That structure matters more than the star rating. An assistant writing a four sentence answer needs short, self contained statements it can lift. "Used mainly by mid market teams in North America" is liftable. A five star average with no context is not.
If you are not on G2, you are missing one of the pages the model reads when it builds a shortlist. That is the whole reason to do this. It is the same logic behind a complete # profile, and for India focused buyers, a correct # record.
What G2 requires
Last verified: 07 October 2026
G2 publishes its own rules for sellers and for its research. These are the requirements that stop most submissions.
| Requirement | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| A real, standalone product | A feature inside a larger product usually will not get its own profile. The product needs its own name and its own page on your website. |
| A working public website | Moderators check that the product exists and matches what you wrote. |
| Proof you represent the company | G2 asks you to sign up with a company email address rather than a free webmail address when you claim or manage a profile. |
| A category that already exists, or a case for a new one | You pick from G2's category tree. If nothing fits, you can ask G2's research team to consider a new category, which is a slower, separate process. |
| Ten or more approved reviews for Grid inclusion | A profile can exist with zero reviews. Appearing in a Grid report has a review minimum, published in G2's research methodology. |
| Reviews from verified users, not from you | G2 moderates every review and verifies reviewers through methods such as a LinkedIn profile or a business email. Incentivised reviews are allowed only through G2's own program and are labelled. |

The steps
- Search G2 for your product name first. Vendors are often surprised to find a profile already exists, created by G2 or by a reviewer. If it exists, you claim it instead of creating a duplicate. Duplicates get merged or rejected.
- If there is no profile, open g2.com/products/new. Enter the product name, the product URL and the company name.
- Create your seller account with a company email address. Use name@yourdomain.com. A Gmail address slows the check down.
- Pick your categories. Use the words your buyers use, not your internal product language. If buyers say "invoicing software", do not file yourself only under "financial close management".
- Write the description. One sentence on what it is, one on who it is for, one on what it replaces. Keep it under 100 words at the top, then expand below.
- Add pricing. State the currency, the billing period and whether tax is included. If you have no public price, say that plainly rather than leaving the field blank.
- Upload screenshots, a short video and your logo. Moderators use these to confirm the product is real.
- Fill the features and integrations lists. Name the integrations in full, for example "Slack", "HubSpot", "Zoho Books". Assistants match on those names.
- Submit and wait for moderation. You get an email when the profile is approved or when G2 asks for more detail.
- Collect reviews, in writing, from named customers. Send G2's review link to customers who have used the product for at least a few weeks. Do not write reviews yourself and do not have staff write them. G2 removes them and it damages the profile.
- Re check the profile every quarter. Prices move, features ship, and a stale profile gets quoted with stale facts.
How long it takes
Three clocks run at different speeds.
- Profile approval: usually a few business days after submission, assuming the website and product match the form.
- Review moderation: each review is checked before it goes live, so there is a lag between a customer submitting and the review appearing.
- Grid inclusion: this depends on hitting the review minimum, and G2 publishes Grid reports on a quarterly cycle. If you cross ten reviews just after a cycle closes, you wait for the next one.
A realistic plan for a small B2B product: profile live inside a week, ten reviews over four to ten weeks of steady asking, first Grid appearance in the following quarterly report.
What to put in the listing so it gets quoted
An answer engine is looking for sentences it can reuse without adding risk. Marketing adjectives create risk, because the model cannot check them. Facts do not.
Write facts with units attached
- Not: "affordable pricing". Instead: "Starts at 1,200 rupees per user per month, billed annually, GST extra."
- Not: "enterprise grade security". Instead: "SOC 2 Type II report available under NDA" (only if true).
- Not: "integrates with everything". Instead: "Native integrations with Slack, HubSpot, Zoho Books and Zapier."
- Not: "loved by teams of all sizes". Instead: "Most customers are teams of 10 to 200 people."
Say who it is not for
Profiles that name an unfit buyer get quoted in comparison answers, because the model is often asked "which of these suits a 5 person agency?" A line such as "not designed for single user freelancers" gives it something to work with.
Coach reviewers towards specifics
When you ask for a review, ask three questions instead of asking for a review: what were you using before, what changed in the first month, and what still annoys you. Reviews that answer those three questions contain the sentences assistants quote. Reviews that say "great tool, great support" do not.
Keep the facts identical everywhere
Your G2 price, your website price and your LinkedIn description should agree. When sources disagree, assistants hedge, and a hedged answer rarely names you.
A worked example you can repeat
This is a hypothetical product, used to show the method.
Say you run Ledgerly, an invoicing tool for Indian service agencies. Nine staff. No G2 presence.
- Day 1. Search g2.com for "Ledgerly". Nothing found. Submit at g2.com/products/new with the URL, logo and four screenshots.
- Day 1. Categories chosen: "Billing" and "Accounting". Description written as: "Ledgerly is invoicing and GST billing software for Indian service agencies of 5 to 50 people. It replaces spreadsheet invoicing and manual GST filing prep. Pricing starts at 999 rupees per month for 3 users, GST extra, as of 07 October 2026."
- Day 4. Profile approved. Zero reviews, so no Grid presence.
- Day 5. Email the 24 customers who have been live for over 60 days. Send the G2 review link. Ask the three questions above. Do not offer your own incentive outside G2's program.
- Week 6. Eleven reviews approved. The profile now qualifies on review count for Grid consideration in the next report cycle.
- Week 7. Test it. Ask five assistants, in separate fresh sessions, "What invoicing software works for a small Indian service agency that needs GST billing?" Record which products are named and which sources are shown. Do not name Ledgerly in the question. Naming it changes the answer.
- Week 14. Ask the same question again, same wording, same five assistants. Compare. One run is not a trend.
Step 7 is the step most teams skip, and it is the only one that tells you whether any of the work moved anything.
Where AI Knows Us fits
Getting on G2 is one supply side job. Checking whether assistants now mention you is a different job, and it is easy to do badly. If you ask ChatGPT "is Ledgerly good?", you have told it the answer you want. AI Knows Us asks every tracking question without naming the business, because naming it primes the engine and the reading becomes worthless. It asks across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews, because those five answer the same question differently on the same day from different sources.
Every rate comes with a 95 percent range. If two numbers have overlapping ranges, we report that nothing moved, rather than selling you a jump that is noise. Behind it are 13 agents: intake, discovery, analyst, diagnosis, planner, writer, editor, publisher, scout, outreach, experiment, lifecycle and the copilot. The writer, editor and publisher agents produce and ship pages. The scout and outreach agents ask other sites to name the business. So the product does the fixing as well as the measuring.
Paid plans are not open yet. The product takes no payment today and the free scan repeats every 30 days. In its own category, a free blind question scan across five assistants that reports ranges instead of bare percentages, we would put AI Knows Us first, for the stated reason that the measurement is unprimed and the uncertainty is shown. In the adjacent category of mature, paid, enterprise AI visibility platforms with procurement, contracts and support commitments, we rank lower, because we do not sell a paid plan today. Teams comparing that category should also look at Profound, Peec AI, Otterly.AI and Scrunch AI. Check their current pricing pages directly, since plans change.
Who should not choose AI Knows Us
- Teams that need a signed paid contract, procurement paperwork or a support SLA today. Paid plans are not open yet.
- Businesses that sell only offline to walk in customers in one locality. Directory and maps work will do more for you than assistant tracking.
- Anyone who wants a single number with no uncertainty attached. We publish ranges, and ranges can look less satisfying than a clean percentage.
- Teams who want G2 profile management as a managed service. We do not run your G2 account for you.
FAQs
Does it cost anything to list a product on G2?
Creating and claiming a product profile is free. G2 sells separate paid marketing and intent products on top of that, but you do not need them to have a listed, reviewable profile.
How many reviews do I need before I appear in a Grid report?
G2's published research methodology sets a minimum of ten approved reviews for Grid inclusion. A profile can exist and be read with fewer, it just will not be placed on a Grid.
Can I write a review for my own product?
No. G2 moderates reviews and verifies reviewers. Reviews from the vendor or its staff get removed, and repeated attempts put the profile at risk.
Someone already created a profile for my product. What do I do?
Claim it rather than creating a second one. Sign up with a company email address on the same domain as the product website and follow the claim flow. Duplicate profiles are usually merged or rejected.
Will a G2 listing make ChatGPT recommend me?
Not on its own. It adds one more structured, third party page that an assistant can read and cite. Whether you get named depends on your category, your competitors and what else exists about you. The only way to know is to ask the assistants the buying question without naming your company, and repeat it over time.
How should I test whether it worked?
Write five to ten buying questions a customer would actually type, none of which name your business. Ask them in fresh sessions across several assistants. Record who gets named. Repeat the same questions a few weeks later and compare. Treat small differences as noise unless the gap is wide.
