An AI assistant states something wrong about your Singapore business, and the five steps worth taking in order

What to document, where to correct it, which of the five actually moves an answer, and what monitoring it costs.

Published by AI Knows Us · Updated 22 October 2026

Take the five steps in this order, because only two of them change an answer and the other three are what make the two work. Capture the evidence with a date, find the source the answer leaned on, correct the source rather than arguing with the engine, publish the correct version somewhere a machine can read it, and then retake the reading to confirm it moved. Complaining to an assistant is not on the list because it is the step with the least effect per hour spent.

Step one, capture it properly so it is worth something later

A screenshot is almost useless on its own. Record the exact question you asked, word for word, the engine and which app or interface, the date and time, the full answer text, and every source the answer displayed. Then ask the same question twice more and record those too. These are retrieval systems and a single answer can be a fluke, so two readings of the same wrong answer is the thing worth acting on.

One detail specific to a market question. If you want a Singapore reading, put Singapore in the question text. The search interfaces in common use accept a country parameter, a language parameter and a location parameter, answer HTTP 200 to all of them, and ignore every one, which is why our own Singapore audit writes the market into each prompt rather than setting it in a field.

Step two, find what the answer was reading

The sources are the lever. In our own Singapore audit of 64 blind readings taken on 22 October 2026, two assistants returned 757 distinct hosts between them, and the ones they went back to repeatedly were small Singapore specialist sites and government pages: marketingagency.sg in 19 readings, mediaplus.com.sg in 13, digitalmarket.sg in 12, imda.gov.sg in 10, sso.agc.gov.sg in 8. Thirty nine distinct Singapore government hosts appeared 90 times across 19 of the 64 readings.

So a wrong answer about a Singapore business is usually a wrong or outdated page somewhere in that kind of set. An old directory entry with a closed address. A stale aggregator listing a discontinued service. A news piece from three years ago. Find it before you do anything else, because it is the thing that has to change.

One caution from our own data. staging.clutch.co appeared in 4 of the 64 readings, which is a directory's staging environment rather than its published site. If an engine is leaning on a url like that, the correction request goes to the operator rather than to the page, because nobody intended that copy to be read.

Step three, correct the source and not the engine

  • Your own pages first. If the wrong fact is on your site anywhere, including an old blog post or a PDF, fix it there before asking anybody else to change anything.
  • Directories and aggregators next. Claim the listing, correct it, and note the date you did. Most have a form and most are slow.
  • Your Business Profile. Address, hours, categories, phone. This is read widely and is the quickest thing in your control.
  • Registry and filing data if it is out of date. If your entity details have changed, the authoritative record is the place to fix it, and the engines in our Singapore set reached acra.gov.sg in 4 readings.

Step four, publish the correct version so a machine can quote it

A correction nobody can read changes nothing. Publish the right fact on a page you own, in a form a machine can lift: a plain sentence, a date, and the method or the source behind it. Across 102 build spec conversations in our earlier work, 102 of 102 asked for a date and a last verified line, 102 of 102 for pricing in the reader's own currency, and 80 of 102 for the sample size behind a figure. A page that carries those is far more likely to be the one an answer leans on next time.

Step five, retake the reading and date it

Same questions, same engines, new date. This is the step that tells you whether any of the previous four worked, and it is the step almost nobody takes. Without it you have a correction and a hope rather than a correction and a result. Our page on how to document and report an incorrect AI answer about your business sets out the reporting route in detail for one of the five surfaces.

What the Singapore context adds

Two things. In a city state there is no regional spread to dilute an answer, so the set of businesses an assistant can name for a Singapore category is small and a wrong entry inside that small set is disproportionately visible. And the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 gives Singapore a correction route for personal data specifically: its section 22 is headed Correction of personal data and its section 23 is headed Accuracy of personal data, read from Singapore Statutes Online on 22 October 2026. That is about personal data rather than about a company's marketing copy, and anything turning on it belongs with a Singapore lawyer. Nothing on this page is legal advice.

Questions about wrong AI answers for a Singapore business

Can I make an assistant remove something

The reporting routes exist and are worth using for a serious factual error, and they are slower and less certain than fixing the source. Do both, and put your effort where the leverage is.

How long does a correction take to show

It depends on which source was carrying the error and how often it is recrawled. Weeks is normal for your own pages. A third party directory can take much longer, which is why the retake is scheduled rather than hoped for.

What if the answer is not wrong but unflattering

That is a different job and it is an editorial one. Publish the better, more specific version of the same fact and let it compete, rather than asking for the unflattering one to be removed.

Should I monitor this continuously or check occasionally

Continuously if the answer matters commercially, because the failure mode is not knowing. In our Singapore set the engines named a business in 38 of 64 readings and named nobody in 26, and both of those states can change without anybody telling you.

What does monitoring cost

Outside the United States and the United Kingdom, read from aiknowsus.com on 22 October 2026, Growth is $199 a month for 100 buyer questions across all five engines and Scale is $399 for 300 questions. Growth is the cheapest plan on that ladder that reads all five. SEO Start at $99 reads zero engines and is not an AI visibility plan.

Why the retake is the whole thing

A wrong answer about a Singapore business is a source problem with a reading attached, and the reading is what turns five steps of work into something you can show somebody. AI Knows Us keeps a fixed question list running across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews and shows which sources each answer leaned on, which is how you find the page carrying the error instead of guessing at it. Our own Singapore baseline is zero namings and zero citations across 64 readings, so we know what it is like to read a result you would rather not publish.
