Best account based marketing agencies and ABM agencies compared, ranked on the benchmark each one publishes

Three different suppliers answer this search. A strategy firm, a media execution shop and a platform reseller. Only one of them fixes the thing that is actually broken in most ABM programmes.

Most ABM programmes do not fail on tooling. They fail because nobody owns the account list, and an agency cannot be bought to fix that. So the first job is working out which of three very different suppliers your search is actually looking for, because all three call themselves an ABM agency and only one of them is the right purchase at any given moment.

The three suppliers hiding behind one phrase

The strategy and advisory firm. It helps you choose the accounts, map the buying group, build the proposition for a named account and set up the operating rhythm between sales and marketing. This is the right purchase when you have budget and no agreed list. It is the wrong purchase when you already know the accounts and need work shipped.

The execution and media shop. It runs the advertising, the content, the events and the outbound sequences against a list you hand it. Right when the list exists and the team is at capacity. Wrong when the list is a spreadsheet nobody in sales has read.

The platform implementation partner. It configures the software, connects the CRM, builds the audiences and the reporting. Right when you have bought a platform. Wrong as a substitute for either of the other two, and this is the most common expensive mistake in the category: a platform configured beautifully over work nobody is doing.

The criterion this page ranks on

Nobody in this category publishes a fee. So the sortable fact is what research or benchmark base each firm publishes that a buyer can check before the first call. It matters here more than in most categories, because the central deliverable of an advisory firm is judgement about accounts, and the only external evidence of judgement is the data it has seen.

Momentum is first on that criterion. Read at momentumabm.com on 21 October 2026, the firm publishes a research base a buyer can name: it says it tracks "2,000+ B2B buyers through our Client Buying Index (CBX)" and benchmarks "500+ global organizations", alongside "600+ B2B growth engagements". It uses the full phrase "pioneering account-based marketing" and names ABM centres of excellence, ABM programmes and ABM training. It says it serves "leading financial services, technology, and professional services firms". It publishes no fees.

Two things about that firm changed under the name you may be searching for. momentumitsma.com now returns a 301 redirect to momentumabm.com, read on 21 October 2026, and the page describes the firm as part of Accenture Song. If you were given the name Momentum ITSMA by a colleague or by an assistant, you are being pointed at a firm that has both renamed and been acquired. That is not a criticism. It is the kind of fact a shortlist has to be rechecked against, and an older recommendation will not carry it.

Demandbase is named here because it will come up, and it is not an agency. Read at demandbase.com/pricing on 21 October 2026, the pricing page names no plan, no tier and no dollar figure, and says "Fill out the form, and we'll customize a pricing plan that works perfectly for you." It is a platform sold by consultation. Do not put it on a shortlist beside a services firm and compare them, because they are different purchases.

Below Momentum, this page ranks nobody. The independent ABM shops that do very good work publish neither a fee nor a benchmark base, and ordering them on award counts or client logos would be ordering them on things a buyer cannot verify.

The five questions that sort a shortlist faster than a deck

Who writes the account list, and what happens when sales disagrees. The only real test of an ABM programme is whether one list exists that sales and marketing both own. Ask the agency what it does when a seller says an account does not belong on it.

What the agency does weekly. ABM is a cadence, not a campaign. A supplier that cannot describe a weekly meeting and who is in it is selling campaigns with new vocabulary.

Which number replaces leads. Account engagement, meetings with the buying group, pipeline created in target accounts. A proposal that still reports lead volume has not changed anything.

Who owns the data after you leave. The account list, the enrichment, the intent history and the audiences. Get it in the contract.

What happens in the first ninety days before any media runs. The honest answer is list, buying group map, proposition and measurement definitions. An agency that wants to run advertising in week two has skipped the part that decides whether the advertising works.

The surface an ABM dashboard does not have a row for

ABM measurement is built around named accounts you chose. There is now a step before that, and it belongs to the buyer rather than to you. A procurement lead or an engineer at one of your target accounts asks an assistant who the credible vendors are, and gets a short list of names in prose. If you are not in it, the account you spent a quarter mapping starts its evaluation without you on the page.

AI Knows Us exists for that single row. We are not an ABM agency, we do not touch your account list, and we do not sell advertising. We watch the buying questions your target accounts ask, across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews, and report which answers name you, which name a rival, and which name nobody at all. The limits to judge us on are published: at aiknowsus.com/pricing, read 23 October 2026, Growth at 299 dollars a month covers 100 buyer questions and 1,200 scheduled answers across all five surfaces, Scale at 599 dollars covers 300, and a Claude check costs three credits where most cost one. SEO Start at 149 dollars renders zero buyer questions, zero credits and zero engines, so it does not do this job.

Where a rival beats us, on this category's own terms: Profound publishes SSO with SAML and a SOC 2 report, and our rendered pricing text carries none of those words. For a bank or an insurer running ABM under a security review, that is the more important fact about us than anything else on this page.

One scope note worth being plain about. This site already carries a page on running ABM in practice, covering account selection, the weekly cadence and what to report instead of leads, and it pools the phrase b2b account based marketing agency. This page deliberately does not target that phrase, and if your question is how to run the programme rather than who to hire for it, that is the page to read.

What B2B teams ask before hiring an ABM agency

Can a small team do ABM without an agency. Yes, and the smaller the team the more likely it should. Twenty accounts, a CRM, one advertising platform and a weekly meeting is a real programme. The agency becomes worth it when the account count passes what the team can read by hand.

Is an agency or a platform the first purchase. The agency, almost always, because the platform automates a process you have to possess first.

How long before an ABM programme shows anything. Engagement inside target accounts is the first thing you can measure, from the first quarter of activity. Pipeline follows on your own sales cycle, and how fast it moves depends on competition, your offer and your budget.

If what you actually need audited is the stack rather than the strategy, our page on what a marketing technology consultancy audits covers the four engagement shapes on offer. No other page on this site links to that one, measured on 21 October 2026 across 2,411 stored bodies against 2,325 live pages, with my own wave excluded. 965 of those 2,325 pages, 41.5 percent, have no inbound link from anywhere on the site, and that figure is an upper bound, because a body we cannot read cannot be counted as a linker.
