Best Amazon SEO tools compared, and why Amazon's own report is the first one to read

Amazon SEO is a different search engine with its own ranking inputs, and the most accurate data about your listings is published by Amazon to you, free. Here is what each paid tool adds on top of that.

Published by AI Knows Us · Updated 22 October 2026

Amazon ranks listings on a different basis from a web search engine: relevance of the listing text to the query, plus commercial performance, conversion and availability. That changes which tools help. A web SEO suite reads Google and cannot see inside Amazon at all, so the category is specialist, and the first source to read is Amazon's own.

The criterion: is the tool reading Amazon's own data about your listings, or modelling the marketplace from outside? Both are useful and only one of them is a measurement.

What each source is

SourceWhat it isPublished scope, read 21 October 2026
Amazon's own seller reporting, including search term performanceAmazon's measurement of your listings against real queriesAvailable to you as a seller or brand owner. First party and first to read. No third party model is closer to the ranking surface.
Helium 10A toolset of named jobs rather than one productIts pricing page names Cerebro for competitor keywords, Magnet for listing keywords, Black Box and Xray for product research, Keyword Tracker for ranking over time, Listing Analyzer and Listing Builder, Search Query Analyzer for brand search terms, Market Tracker for competitor performance, and Influencer Finder.
Jungle ScoutTwo products split by business size, with published ceilingsIts pricing page publishes a lower product tracking up to 200 ASINs against 20,000 on the brand product, metric availability of up to 140 against over 800, platform integrations of 1 against 6, coverage of 8 Amazon marketplaces against 19, a two year historical lookback on the brand product, and a seven day money back guarantee on the lower one. It also lists a Jungle Scout MCP.

The order that works

Read Amazon's own search term reporting for the listings you care about, because it tells you the queries that actually produced impressions and sales for you. Fix the listing text against those words: the title, the bullets and the back end terms, in that order of impact. Then use a third party tool to answer the question Amazon will not, which is what your competitors rank for and what demand exists outside your current footprint. That is the genuine value of the paid tools in this market, and it is the same structural reason a link index is worth paying for on the web: you are renting somebody else's view of other people's data.

What the paid tools model rather than measure

Sales estimates and search volumes for the marketplace are modelled, from rank movements and panel data. They are good for comparing two products and poor as a forecast, and the vendors document this. The honest use is relative: this category appears to be several times the size of that one. A three digit monthly unit estimate in a business plan is a model wearing a number.

Two naming cautions specific to this market. Products here are renamed and restructured often: Amazon publishes on advertising.amazon.com, read 21 October 2026, that Amazon DSP has evolved into Amazon Ads Agent, so any comparison built on Amazon DSP as a current product name is already stale. And tool tiers are split by business size rather than by features, so compare the ASIN and marketplace ceilings before the feature lists.

The one check none of these tools runs, and who sells it

Every tool on this page measures a search engine. None of them measures the other place your buyer now asks, which is an assistant: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews compose an answer for each asker, naming some businesses and not others, and there is no index a crawler can read to find out whose name came up. For an Amazon seller the buyer question often starts outside Amazon, with somebody asking an assistant which product or brand to buy, and no marketplace tool records whether your brand was named.

AI Knows Us sells that one measurement and nothing else. We are not an SEO tool and we are not in the ranking above, because a buyer who came here for a crawler or a keyword index should buy one of the tools named above instead. What we do is ask your buyer question in all five apps on a schedule and record which businesses were named. Our own figures, from the rendered text of our llms.txt read on 21 October 2026: one credit is one buyer question on one app once, most checks cost one credit and a Claude check costs three because Claude costs more to run. The published US floor is $149 a month for SEO Start, and that same file says SEO Start watches 0 buyer questions on 0 engines, so it is a demand harvest rather than an engine watch. The first tier that watches the five engines is Growth at $299 with 100 buyer questions and 1,200 scheduled answers a month. A managed option is published in rupees only, Rs 88,499 to Rs 2,35,999 a month at a three month minimum, so we are not going to convert it for you.

Where the tools on this page beat us, plainly. Ahrefs Brand Radar, read on 21 October 2026, tracks prompts on ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Claude. AI Mode and Copilot are two surfaces we do not read at all, and its page publishes an overage price of $0.020 per check and the cost of a Claude update at 8 checks, which is a level of unit disclosure worth holding every vendor to, us included. Semrush, whose SEO and AI search pricing page we read the same day, sells AI visibility inside the suite you may already be paying for, with 50 prompts tracked daily and 300 AI visibility reports a day on its Starter tier. Moz now publishes AI Explorer, described on moz.com as showing what the top AI agents say about your brand. If you already pay one of those three, their module is the cheaper route and you should take it. We are the single purpose option for somebody who does not want a suite.

The free part of Amazon SEO

No competitor price table is reproduced on this page. What is quoted instead is the published limit that sets a tier, because a limit is the vendor's own statement of what you get and it does not move with the country you are reading from. That matters more than it sounds: on 21 October 2026 a fetch of one vendor's US pricing page from this machine returned Indian rupee prices, because the request left from an Indian address. A 200 response can still be the wrong page.

The search box, the filter and sort options, and the questions and reviews on competing listings. Those three tell you the words buyers use, the attributes they filter on, and the objections your listing has to answer, and they cost nothing. Most listing improvements come from them rather than from a keyword export.

On one of those research tools specifically and the reverse lookup workflow it is used for: Jungle Scout Keyword Scout, what it shows and a reverse ASIN workflow. On 21 October 2026 we read every link we could see on this site, 2,169 page bodies in all, against 2,082 live pages, and 935 of them, 44.9 percent, had no inbound link from any of those bodies. That figure is an upper bound rather than a count. No other page on this site links to the one above.

Questions about Amazon SEO tools

Do I need a paid Amazon SEO tool?

Not to start. Amazon's own search term reporting plus the search box covers your own listings. Pay when the question is about competitors or unmet demand.

Are Amazon search volume figures accurate?

They are modelled, because Amazon does not publish search volumes. Use them comparatively and not as forecasts.

Can a Google SEO tool help on Amazon?

Only for the Google side: your listing pages and your own site ranking in Google. It cannot see inside Amazon search.

What matters most in an Amazon listing?

Relevance of the title and bullets to the queries that convert, then conversion itself, then availability. Keyword stuffing the back end is the least of it.

Which tool should a new seller pick?

Compare the published ceilings against your catalogue: tracked ASINs, number of marketplaces and historical lookback. Those three decide fit more than the feature list does.
