Best lawyer and law firm marketing agencies compared, and the claim shapes that tell you what you are buying

Legal marketing has the highest click prices in the market and the strictest advertising rules, which makes supplier selection unusually consequential. Here is what the specialists publish and how to read it.

Published by AI Knows Us · Updated 22 October 2026

Legal is the most expensive category in paid search and one of the most regulated in advertising, so the cost of hiring the wrong marketing supplier is higher here than almost anywhere. The good news is that the specialists in this niche publish more than general agencies do, which gives a buyer something to work with.

The four kinds of supplier that answer this search

The legal specialist agency. One practice area or a small set, with a page inventory already built for case types. Rankings.io, read at rankings.io on 21 October 2026, presents itself as a "Law Firm Marketing Agency for Elite Firms" and is specific about the niche inside the niche: it states "More than 300+ PI firms have used Rankings.io" and targets "high-value MVA, premises liability, and wrongful death cases nationwide", while noting it also supports criminal and other practice areas. Services listed were SEO, Google Search Ads, organic social and video. It describes itself as founder owned, led and independent, and runs its own conference. No price is published.

The multi vertical performance agency. Legal is one of several industries. Nomadic Advertising, read at nomadicadvertising.com the same day, is a full stack agency offering SEO, Google Ads management, social and website design, and publishes legal marketing guidance of its own, including the line that the best law firm marketing strategy "is usually not one channel" but SEO, Google Ads, local SEO, reviews and conversion focused website design working together. No price published.

The legal directory and lead seller. Sells placement or leads rather than marketing. A different purchase with a different economic shape, and the leads are usually shared.

The general digital agency. Cheaper, and it will learn your advertising rules on your time and your risk.

One read failed and belongs on the record: scorpion.co returned HTTP 403 to our request on 21 October 2026, rendering 58 bytes of text. A blocked request says nothing about the firm, so this page claims nothing about it.

How to read the claims these firms publish

Legal marketing pages carry more percentages than almost any other category. Three shapes, and they deserve different weight.

The cumulative count. Rankings.io publishes "WE'VE HELPED GENERATE 100K+ PI CASES" and the 300 plus firm figure. A cumulative total over many years and many clients tells you about scale and experience. It tells you nothing about your firm's likely outcome.

The single client percentage. The same page publishes "593 % Organic Traffic Growth for a New York Personal Injury Firm" and "233 % Engagement Growth for a Trucking Injury Firm". These are the firm's own published claims, attributed to unnamed clients. Read them as the best results the agency has, selected by the agency, which is what a case study is everywhere.

The new one, which is worth noticing. The same page publishes "992 % ChatGPT Visibility Growth for a PI Firm". That is a legal marketing agency publishing an assistant visibility metric as a headline result, which tells you the category has arrived in this vertical. It also raises the obvious question: growth from what baseline, measured how, on questions asked by whom. Those three questions are the ones to put to any supplier publishing a figure of that shape, including us.

What to require before signing, in this category specifically

Advertising rule compliance, named. State which jurisdiction's rules govern the work and who signs off on copy. Testimonials, result claims and specialisation language are all constrained, and the rules differ by state.

Case type level reporting. Blended cost per lead across every practice area hides which part of the account is losing money. Require the split.

Intake measured as part of the engagement. In legal, speed to answer a call frequently matters more than any change the agency can make to the ads. A supplier unwilling to look at intake is optimising half the funnel.

Account and content ownership. Including the practice area pages written during the engagement.

No exclusivity you do not need, and clarity on the exclusivity you do. Ask whether the agency works with a competing firm in your market, and get the answer in writing.

The number to hold the agency to that it does not supply

AI Knows Us is not an agency. We pitch for no retainers, write no campaigns, buy no media and build no websites, so nothing below is a bid against the firms named on this page. What we sell is one measurement that belongs in an agency scorecard and is almost never in one: when a buyer asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude or Google AI Overviews who to buy from, in a question that never names your business, does your name come out, and whose name comes out instead?

In legal this matters more than in most categories, for two reasons. First, prospective clients ask assistants exactly this kind of question, in the form "who is the best personal injury lawyer in" a named city, and the answer names a handful of firms. Second, as the 992 percent claim above shows, suppliers in this vertical have already started selling against the metric, which makes an independent reading of it worth having before you buy the work.

Two rules behind every rate we publish. The buyer question never names the business being measured, because a question containing the brand name produces an answer containing it. And every rate carries a 95 percent Wilson interval, so a move inside the noise is reported as noise. Our rendered pricing text carries no single sign on, no white label, no SOC 2, no ISO and no data processing agreement, and Profound publishes both single sign on and SOC 2 on its enterprise tier at tryprofound.com/pricing, read the same day, where we publish neither.

Our own numbers, for anyone checking that we publish what we ask agencies to publish. The full ladder is plain text at aiknowsus.com/llms.txt, read 21 October 2026: SEO Start $149 a month with no buyer questions watched, Growth $299 with 100 buyer questions watched, 1,200 scheduled answers a month and five engines, SEO Scale $699, Scale $599 with 300 questions, Inbound $1,099 with 200 questions, Outbound $1,299 with 30 questions and four engines, Agency $1,299 with 80 questions and 12,300 credits, Everything $1,799 with 300 questions and 3,600 scheduled answers. A 1,000 credit top up is $49 and $149 is the published United States floor. Managed GEO is listed at Rs 88,499 to Rs 2,35,999 a month with a three month minimum, published in rupees only, so we quote the rupee figure rather than converting it. A credit is one buyer question put to one app once; a Claude check costs three credits and most checks cost one.

Correction, 21 October 2026. This page used to say that our pricing page serves rupee prices in its first response and that a crawler reading it sees rupees. That was wrong. Requested as a crawler on 21 October 2026, it returned 119,203 bytes carrying 24 dollar figures in its visible text, every plan price among them, alongside 31 rupee figures, and it states in its own words that it is rendered on the server for every visitor and every crawler. The plain text file is the server rendered source.

What law firms ask about marketing agencies

Specialist or generalist? Specialist, in this category, because the page inventory by case type and the advertising rules are both already solved and both are expensive to learn.

What should a firm expect to pay? The specialists in this niche publish no price. The published general market ranges are retainers of $1,000 to $5,000 a month and hourly work at $75 to $200, from WebFX on 21 October 2026, and legal sits at the upper end of any such range because the click prices do.

Are directory leads worth buying? They are a different product from marketing: faster, shared with competitors, and they build no asset you keep.
