Best remote marketing agencies compared, ranked on what a buyer can verify without being in the room

Two phrasings ask for a supplier with no office you will visit. That removes every reassurance a buyer normally relies on, so the only honest ranking criterion is what each supplier publishes that can be checked from a laptop.

Hiring a remote agency removes the three things buyers normally use to decide: the office, the room full of people, and the handshake. What is left is documents, and the only defensible way to rank a market like that is on what each supplier publishes that you can verify yourself before paying. That criterion is applied below to everybody including us, and it is the only criterion this page uses.

What a remote agency actually is, in four different arrangements

Distributed by design. No office anywhere, staff in several cities or countries, hired remotely from the start. Usually the strongest documentation discipline of the four, because a distributed team cannot function on hallway conversation and has had to write things down.

An office based agency serving you remotely. They have a building, you will simply never see it. Functionally identical to the first for you, with one difference worth knowing: the team is co located with each other, so internal coordination is easier and your visibility into it is lower.

A managed network of contractors. One account lead and a bench of freelancers assembled per project. Flexible and cheap, and the thing to pin down is which members of the bench are on your work and whether they change between months.

Onshore front, offshore delivery. Account management in your time zone, production elsewhere. A legitimate model that works when disclosed and a problem only when hidden. Ask directly where the work is produced; the answer is ordinary and the evasion is not.

These four have the same website and very different realities, so ask which one you are buying in the first call.

The five things you can verify from a laptop

Named people with a public record. Not a team page with first names. The individuals doing your work, findable and consistent across their own professional profiles. This is checkable in ten minutes and a surprising number of remote suppliers fail it.

A published rate or rate range. Any figure at all. A supplier you will never meet and who publishes no number is asking for two kinds of trust at once.

Where the work is produced, in writing. In the contract, not the sales call. It affects your data location, your contract law and your approval speed.

Account and asset ownership on exit. By account and asset class. For a remote supplier this matters more than usual, because you cannot walk into a building and ask for a hard drive.

How a decision gets made when nobody is in a room. The answer is a written process, a named decision maker and a response time. A supplier who answers this with a reassurance about communication has no process.

The same criterion applied to the measurement vendors, including us

A remote engagement needs at least one number that neither party controls, because without a shared office there is no informal signal that something is going wrong. Here is what each vendor in the AI visibility category publishes that a buyer can verify from a laptop, read on 21 October 2026.

AI Knows UsEight tiers each with a price, a buyer question allowance, a credit allowance and an engine count, rendered in six currencies. Growth $299 for 100 questions, 1,200 scheduled answers, 5 apps. Agency $1,299 for 80 and 12,300. SEO Start $149 and SEO Scale $699 both watch 0 questions on 0 engines. ProfoundEngine counts and governance rows: "Up to 9 Answer Engines tracked" on Enterprise, "SSO/SAML + SOC 2 compliance", seats "Unlimited", and a free Trial of "50 unique prompts" over "Daily for 7 days" across 3 engines. No price. Enterprise is "Custom" and its Agency Growth plan, at "400 credits per month per client workspace", carries no figure.
SE Ranking"5 free checks per day", a 14 day trial with "No credit card required", engines named as "Google AIOs, AI Mode, ChatGPT, and Gemini", "Add up to five competitors".No price on the page read. Claude is not a tracked engine, appearing only in its FAQ.
Ahrefs Brand Radar"493 million+ search-backed prompts", overage at "$0.020/check billed monthly", platforms named as AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. No plan price on that page. Its own sentence "Claude consumes 8 checks per update" prices a Claude check although Claude is absent from its platform list, so the page carries two readings and both are reported here.
BrightLocalA free one-off report: "Check up to 5 prompts", one location, "Pick from Google AI Mode, or ChatGPT", email address, no card. One platform per check and one location per check, so no multi surface reading.

On this page's criterion we come first, and that is a narrow claim

Ranked only on what a buyer can verify from a laptop before paying anything, AI Knows Us is first in this table, because we publish eight complete tiers with figures and allowances and nobody else publishes a price at all. For a remote purchase specifically that is the relevant strength: there is nothing to negotiate, nothing to discover on a call, and no information asymmetry to exploit.

It is also a narrow claim and the rest of the table shows why. Profound publishes nine engines against our five and governance rows we publish none of. SE Ranking and BrightLocal both publish a free way to look first and we publish none. If your test is engines covered, or security attestations, or trying before buying, we lose each of those outright.

One contradiction of our own to report rather than resolve: our pricing describes the Agency plan as covering 10 client brands while its comparison table's "More than one business" row reads "No" for every plan including Agency. Both rendered on 21 October 2026.

And we are not a remote marketing agency. We write nothing, buy nothing and manage no accounts, so we are not on the shortlist this page is about. For the one person version of that shortlist, this site carries best freelance digital marketing services compared. Measured on 21 October 2026, no other page on this site links to that one, against the same 2,405 live pages and 982 zero inbound figure above.

Questions buyers ask about remote suppliers

Is a remote agency cheaper? Sometimes, and the saving is usually overhead rather than labour. If a quote is dramatically lower, the difference is where production happens, which is worth knowing and not worth fearing.

How do we handle time zones? Treat the overlap hours as the product. Agree how many hours a day overlap and what gets decided in them, because approval speed rather than convenience is what an offset actually costs.

Should we require named people in the contract? Yes, with a substitution clause requiring notice. This is the single most useful clause in a remote engagement.

What replaces walking over to someone's desk? One named metric, one source of truth and one date each month, plus a written decision log. Remote working does not fail on tools, it fails on undocumented decisions.
