Digital marketing services in Singapore: local SEO, Google Ads, social and content for a business selling here

How a Singapore business should buy local SEO, Google Ads, social media, influencer, content and AI search work, built on the ASAS social media guidelines, the PDPC Do Not Call Registry, Google's GST rules and StatCounter data, read on 22 October 2026.

For a business selling inside Singapore, digital marketing services come down to five jobs: local search on Google, Google Ads, social media, content, and checking how AI assistants answer about you. Buy each one as a named list of work, keep every account in your company's name, and hold the agency to Singapore's rules: the Do Not Call Registry before any telemarketing call or SMS, and the ASAS guidelines on labelling paid and sponsored content. Google carries more than nine in ten searches here, so search work is Google work. If you sell across South East Asia from Singapore, the decision that matters first is the market list, and our guide to hiring an SEO agency in Singapore for several markets covers that. This page is for the business whose customers are here.

Where Singapore customers search and scroll

StatCounter's September 2026 figures for Singapore show Google with 92.16% of search, Bing with 4.53% and DuckDuckGo with 1.08%. On social media the picture is spread wider: Facebook sends 44.5% of the visits that social networks send to websites, X (Twitter) 26.23%, YouTube 8.19%, Instagram 7.01%, Reddit 6.03% and Pinterest 5.74%. Those figures count clicks out to websites, so they say little about awareness inside the apps, but they do tell you where referral traffic comes from. A social media marketing plan in Singapore that ignores X and Reddit is ignoring a third of the social clicks.

Local SEO in Singapore

For shops, clinics, restaurants and service firms, local SEO is the Business Profile and the pages behind it. Google says local results are "mainly based on relevance, distance, and popularity". In a dense city the nearest competitor is often a few streets away, so a business competes mostly with its neighbours.

  • Put the Business Profile at the address customers visit, with the right category, opening hours and phone number.
  • Write a page per service, and a page per outlet if you run several, with details only that outlet has.
  • Ask for reviews that name the service. Reply to them in the language the customer used.
  • Check your top terms in English and, where your category has the demand, in Chinese, Malay or Tamil.

A local SEO package in Singapore should list those items, the number of pages written each month and the reports you receive. Google is direct about one claim to avoid: "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google."

Google Ads in Singapore

A Google Ads agency in Singapore manages your account; it should not own it. Ask for the account to be opened under your company, with the agency given access, so your history stays with you if you change supplier. Keep the media budget separate from the management fee in the proposal. Google says that since 1 January 2024 Google Ads sales in Singapore carry 9% GST for accounts with a Singapore business address, so check whether a quoted budget includes it. If the same account will target Malaysia or Indonesia as well, read our page on what separates a real multi-country PPC account before you sign.

Social media and influencer work: the ASAS rules

The Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore, an advisory council to the Consumers Association of Singapore, administers the Singapore Code of Advertising Practice, whose basic premise is that every advert should be "legal, decent, honest and truthful". Its Guidelines on Interactive Marketing Communication and Social Media, in effect since 29 August 2016, add rules any social media or influencer agency should follow:

  • "All marketing communication must be identified as such and distinguished from editorial or personal opinions."
  • Where an endorser has a connection to the brand, such as payment, free samples or special invitations, that connection "must be fully disclosed".
  • Disclosures for sponsored content must be clear and prominent, in a contrasting colour, and placed on the same page as the content rather than behind a link.

Ask an influencer marketing company in Singapore how it writes disclosures into each brief and how it checks posts before they go live. ASAS has also reported a rise in feedback about AI in adverts and called on industry bodies to write guidelines for it, so ask how AI-generated images or voices in your ads will be labelled.

Content marketing, email and calls

Content marketing in Singapore should be judged on the questions it answers for your buyers and who checks the facts. A copywriting agency should name its writers, its review step and who owns the files. Our page on what content marketing services include sets out the line items to ask for.

If the plan includes calls or SMS to Singapore numbers, the PDPC's Do Not Call Registry applies. Since 2 January 2014 organisations must check the registry to make sure the Singapore numbers they send telemarketing messages to are not listed. Registration is free for consumers and does not expire. Agree in writing who runs the checks.

B2B and ecommerce marketing in Singapore

A B2B digital marketing agency should start from your sales cycle: LinkedIn, search terms with buying intent, and content that answers a procurement team's questions. An ecommerce marketing agency should start from product and category pages, product data for Shopping ads, and site speed. In both cases, ask how each enquiry or order will be traced to its source.

Questions about digital marketing services in Singapore

Is local SEO different from the SEO a regional agency sells?

Yes. Local SEO is your Business Profile, reviews and pages for the outlets customers visit. A regional programme is about markets, languages and site structure. Many Singapore businesses need only the first.

Do influencer posts for our brand need a label?

Yes. The ASAS guidelines say marketing communication must be identified as such and any material connection between the endorser and the brand must be fully disclosed.

Can our agency send SMS offers to customers?

Only after checking the numbers against the Do Not Call Registry, which organisations have had to do since 2 January 2014, and with the consent the PDPA requires.

Should the Google Ads account be in our name or the agency's?

Yours. The agency gets access. That keeps your data and history if you move.

When can we judge whether our digital marketing is working?

Read the Business Profile performance report, Search Console impressions and positions, cost per enquiry in Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager, and orders or leads by source. The outcome depends on competition, your offer and your budget.

AI SEO agencies in Singapore, and the check behind them

"AI SEO agency Singapore" is now a search buyers make. The label, often also sold as GEO, means work aimed at being named when buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI Overviews. Our guide to what an AI SEO agency actually does lists the questions to ask. The criterion that separates real work from a relabelled SEO retainer is simple: does the agency measure the AI answers themselves, app by app, on a fixed list of your buyers' questions, before and after the work? If you want that measurement on its own, AI Knows Us is built for it: its Growth plan, $199 a month before tax, charged in US dollars outside the US and UK, checks 100 buyer questions across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews, and shows which sources each answer relied on.
