Hiring a social media, content or email supplier near you in Singapore, and the disclosure rule that lands on the advertiser too

The one part of social that genuinely needs somebody local, the ASAS guidelines your supplier is working to, and a published Singapore monthly figure for ad management and for content.

One part of social media work needs somebody physically near you in Singapore, and it is the shoot. Filming and photographing your premises, your staff and your product cannot be done from a desk somewhere else. Scheduling, community management, paid social buying, copywriting, reporting and email are all delivered remotely at the same standard, which means the search for a social media agency nearby is really a search for a production partner who happens to also run the account. Price the production and the management separately, because they are two different purchases that usually arrive on one invoice.

There is a second reason the contract matters more than the office, and most Singapore buyers only meet it after something goes wrong. The advertising standards your supplier works to apply to you as the advertiser, not only to the agency or the creator posting on your behalf. So the useful question is not how close they are. It is which written rule they are working to, and whether they can show it to you.

The rule your supplier should be able to name

Advertising here is self regulated through the Singapore Code of Advertising Practice, administered by the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore, which sits with the Consumers Association of Singapore. Read on asas.org.sg on 27 October 2026, the Code "seeks to promote a high standard of ethics in advertising through industry self-regulation", and its basic premise is that all advertisements should be "legal", "decent", "honest" and "truthful". It was formulated with reference to national law, international law and practice, including the International Chamber of Commerce's Advertising and Marketing Communications Code.

For social specifically there is a separate set of guidelines. The ASAS page on social media, read the same day, records that the authority issued them on 29 August 2016 and that they took effect that day, and states that "Marketers and media owners will be given until 29 September 2016 to adhere to the guidelines". It also says they are to be read together with the rest of the Code. The provisions themselves, including the guidance notes, sit in linked documents rather than on the page.

That last detail is the practical one. Anybody can summarise a guideline. Ask your shortlisted supplier to send you the clause they are working to, from the source, and to tell you which party the disclosure obligation names. A supplier who has read it will answer in a sentence. A supplier who has not will send you a blog post about it.

Generative AI in creative is now a live complaint category here

This is new enough that most Singapore contracts say nothing about it. In a media release dated 23 March 2026, ASAS reported that it "received 379 pieces of advertisement feedback in 2025" and that "Of these, seven concerned advertisements that involved the use of generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) in 2025", which it described as "more than double the number received in 2023 and 2024 combined (three)". The authority said it is calling on industry bodies to develop guidelines for AI use in advertisements, with the aim being "not to restrict the practice but to ensure that the resulting advertisements do not mislead consumers."

Seven cases is a small number and the direction is the point. If your supplier is generating images, voice or video with AI tools, settle three things in writing now: whether AI generated assets will be used in paid placements, whether a person appearing in an asset is real, and who signs off the final creative. None of that is a restriction on using the tools. It is the paperwork that keeps a complaint from becoming your problem.

What each kind of social supplier costs you to reach, and what that tells you

We pulled Google's own Singapore figures on 27 October 2026, English, Singapore geo target only, and read the monthly search volume alongside Google's competition index for advertisers, scored 0 to 100.

What a buyer typesSingapore searches a monthGoogle competition index
social media agency26060, rated medium
social media marketing agency26021, rated low
influencer marketing agency14018, rated low
linkedin ads management1405, rated low
facebook advertising companies709, rated low

The shortest phrase is the contested one. "Social media agency" and "social media marketing agency" are the same search intent with one word between them, and Google rates the first at 60 and the second at 21. Suppliers crowd the short phrase. If you search the longer one you meet a less crowded field, including specialists who never outbid anybody for the headline term.

"LinkedIn ads management" at index 5 is the quiet one on that list, and in a B2B market the size of Singapore it is the search where a buyer is least likely to be competing for attention with a generalist retainer pitch.

A published Singapore monthly figure, and the line that makes two quotes incomparable

Most Singapore agencies route pricing to a form. One we read publishes monthly starting figures on its own site. On impossible.sg, read on 27 October 2026, social media ad management is listed at "From $800 to $1,500/month (excluding ad spend)" and content marketing at "From $1,000 to $2,000/month, depending on the type and frequency of content". The figures are shown with a dollar sign and no currency code. The same page lists a Singapore address at 14A Yan Kit Road and describes the company as locally owned, and it advertises grant support as a pre approved solution under the national SMEs Go Digital programme.

The words in brackets are the ones to copy into your own comparison sheet. "Excluding ad spend" means the fee and the media are two separate numbers, and a competing quote that bundles them is not higher or lower, it is a different shape. Ask every supplier for three figures: the management fee, the media budget, and the production cost for the month. Two quotes are only comparable once all three are visible.

Production is usually the biggest of the three and the one buyers forget to ask about. The unit each production supplier prices on, per asset, per shoot day or per month, is set out in social media design and creative services compared on the unit each one actually sells.

Content and email are separate purchases that often arrive in the same pitch

A search for a content writing agency nearby and a search for an email marketing company nearby look adjacent and buy different things. Google's Singapore figures from the same pull: "service email marketing" at 110 a month and index 11, "freelance copywriting" at 70 a month and index 30. Low advertiser pressure on both, which means neither is a market where you have to accept the first retainer offered.

For content, the decision that sets the price is who holds the subject knowledge. A writer who can read your product documentation costs more per piece and needs less of your time, and for a Singapore business selling into several markets from one base, the second decision is which English you are writing. A page written for a Singapore reader and a page written for a buyer in Jakarta or Sydney are different drafts, and a per word rate hides which one you are getting.

For email, the decision that sets the price is the list. Ask three questions before the platform discussion: where did the list come from, who is the named contact for data protection on your side, and who holds the account. A supplier who sends campaigns from their own account is holding an asset you paid to build.

Questions about buying social, content and email help in Singapore

Do I need the agency to be in Singapore?

For the shoot, yes, somebody has to be where your product is. For scheduling, paid buying, copy and reporting, the work arrives the same from anywhere. Split the brief that way and you can hire a local production partner and a remote account team if that gets you better value.

Who is responsible if an influencer post is not disclosed properly?

Treat it as a shared obligation and put it in the contract. ASAS guidelines on social media are to be read with the rest of the Singapore Code of Advertising Practice, and the advertiser is a named party in advertising self regulation here. Ask your supplier for the clause and for the exact disclosure wording they will use, and keep a copy of both.

What is a fair way to compare two Singapore social quotes?

Make every supplier split the month into management fee, media spend and production. One published Singapore example, read on 27 October 2026, states ad management from $800 to $1,500 a month excluding ad spend, which is the shape you want every quote in.

Should social and content come from the same supplier?

They can, and the saving is real when one team writes once and cuts the asset several ways. The risk is that weak writing hides inside strong design. Ask to see a long form piece and a short caption from the same writer before you bundle.

How often should the reporting arrive?

Monthly, against numbers agreed before the first post went out, and with the media spend shown next to the fee. A report that shows reach and never shows cost is a report about effort.

What the assistants name when a Singapore buyer asks for a social agency

A social agency's best work lives in video, in carousels and in paid placements that disappear when the campaign ends. None of that is text a model can read later. So when a Singapore buyer asks an assistant which social agency to brief, the answer is built from the written record instead: award write ups, press coverage, client case studies published somewhere other than the agency's own site, and reviews that contain sentences rather than stars. The agencies with the strongest reels are frequently not the ones that get named, and the gap is almost always missing text rather than missing work. AI Knows Us measures that gap for a specific buying question and shows the sources the answer was built from, which is the one diagnostic a reel cannot provide.
