Hiring an SEO expert in Bangladesh: nobody is the best, so check these things instead

Nobody can honestly be called the best SEO expert in Bangladesh, and a provider who sells you that title is the first one to cross off the list. What you can find is the right SEO expert or agency for your job. Decide first whether you are a Bangladeshi business that wants more customers from Google at home, or a company abroad hiring a Bangladeshi specialist for its own site. Then check four things: that the person works inside Google's rules, keeps every account in your name, handles customer data under the new Personal Data Protection Act 2026, and reports on numbers you can check yourself.

Why the search for "seo expert in Bangladesh" is so crowded

Google is close to the whole search market here. StatCounter's figures for September 2026 put Google at 98.04% of search in Bangladesh, with Bing at 1.3%. So SEO in Bangladesh means SEO for Google, and every provider, from a student freelancer to a large agency, is competing for the same results page.

That is also why the results are full of "top 10 SEO expert in Bangladesh" lists and "best SEO expert in BD" pages. A list tells you who published it, not who is skilled. Treat a list as a place to find names, never as proof of skill. Google's own advice on hiring an SEO says: "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google." It adds that if a provider guarantees first place, "find someone else."

Buyer one: a Bangladeshi business hiring SEO for itself

For a shop, clinic, school or service firm, local SEO comes first. Google's help page on local results names three factors, relevance, distance and popularity, and says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. So the work is plain and careful: one Business Profile per real branch, the right category, real photos, correct hours, and reviews you answer. Google does not give profiles to businesses that never meet customers in person, so an online-only shop should spend on its website instead.

Language is the second job. Check your main service terms in Bangla and in English in Google's Keyword Planner, with the location set to your district, and build pages for the phrasings that show demand. Ask any SEO expert which language your buyers really type before they write a word.

Buyer two: a company abroad hiring a Bangladeshi SEO expert

The Bangladeshi laws an SEO expert works under in 2026

Two laws passed in April 2026 matter here. We read both on the Ministry of Law's bdlaws site through the Internet Archive, and both are also listed on the BTRC's laws page.

• Personal Data Protection Act 2026 (Act No. 63 of 2026, dated 10 April 2026). It treats a person's personal data as belonging to that person, to be processed lawfully with their consent. Its sections cover the lawful basis for processing, the right to withdraw consent and to object to processing, data breaches, data audits and a Chief Data Officer. If your SEO work collects enquiry forms, newsletter sign-ups or call records, ask how that data is stored, who can see it and how it is deleted.
• Cyber Security Act 2026 (Act No. 81 of 2026, dated 10 April 2026). It replaced the Cyber Security Ordinance 2025, which had itself replaced the Cyber Security Act 2023. Its offences include illegal access to computers and systems, forgery and fraud in cyberspace. That rules out the old black hat shortcuts, such as breaking into other sites to plant links.

For advertising claims, the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009, section 44, sets a penalty of up to one year in prison, a fine of up to Tk 2 lakh, or both, for deceiving buyers with false advertising. That covers what your SEO pages say about your own products, too.

If the SEO plan includes Google Ads

Many SEO experts in Bangladesh also run search ads. Google's tax help page says that from 1 June 2021, a 15% VAT applies to Google Ads customers with billing addresses in Bangladesh who have not added a 13-digit Business Identification Number (BIN) to their payments profile. If your business has a BIN, add it under "Bangladesh Tax Info" in Google Ads settings, and keep the ad account in your own name.

How SEO services in Bangladesh are priced

Providers sell SEO in four common ways: a monthly retainer, a fixed price project such as an audit or a site migration, an hourly or monthly rate for a dedicated freelancer, and white label packages that a foreign agency resells under its own brand. Compare quotes on one written brief. Ask for hours, named people, line items and exclusions, and ask what "100 backlinks" in a package actually means.

Six checks before you hire an SEO expert in Bangladesh

1. Ask for a live example of your kind of job. A local Dhaka clinic and a US ecommerce store need different skills.
2. Give read access only during the audit. Google's "Do you need an SEO?" page says to grant only read access to Search Console at that stage.
3. Keep every account in your name. Domain, hosting, Search Console, Analytics, Business Profile and ad accounts, with access granted to the expert.
4. Ask where links come from. Google's spam policies count bought links and link schemes as spam, and a penalty lands on your site, not the seller's.
5. Ask about AI search advice. Google's same page now asks whether a firm's "AEO" or "GEO" advice follows Google's guidance on generative AI features.
6. Ask for a first month plan you can count: pages fixed, pages written and the report you will receive.

A capable freelancer is often enough for one location and a simple site. Choose an agency when you need writing, development and ads together, or many branches. Either way, keep every account in your company's name.

How do I check whether an SEO expert is any good?

Ask for a site they worked on, then look at it yourself: does it load fast, do its pages answer real questions, is its Business Profile complete? Ask what they changed and what they measured. Ignore titles such as "top" or "youngest".

Should my website be in Bangla, English or both?

Use the language your customers type. Check your main terms in both languages in Keyword Planner, with your district as the location, and write the pages that show demand.

What is white hat SEO?

It means following Google's spam policies: no bought links, no hidden text, no fake reviews. Under the Cyber Security Act 2026, hacking other sites for links is also an offence. Ask any expert to say in writing that they will not use those methods.

When can we judge whether the SEO work is going well?

Judge it on what can be measured: the agreed work delivered, impressions and positions in Search Console, calls and direction requests in the Business Profile performance report, and enquiries by page. Google's SEO Starter Guide says "Some changes might take effect in a few hours, others could take several months," and suggests waiting a few weeks to assess the effect. The outcome depends on competition, your offer and your budget.

When a buyer in Bangladesh asks an assistant for an SEO expert

Some buyers now ask ChatGPT or Gemini for the "best SEO expert in Bangladesh" as well as Google, and the reply names a few people or firms, picked from the profiles, directories and pages the assistant can read. An SEO freelancer selling abroad faces the same test in English.
