How a Singapore company gets into the comparison lists buyers ask assistants for
Counted across our own Singapore audit, 19 of the 321 hosts the engines cited were third party lists and 94 carried a Singapore domain, which tells a seller exactly where the shortlist is assembled.

Get onto the third party lists the engines actually cite, and publish the handful of facts a list editor copies. That is the short answer, and it is countable rather than theoretical. Across our own Singapore audit taken on 26 October 2026, the two engines cited 321 distinct hosts across 26 batches of buyer questions. Of those, 94 carried a Singapore domain and 19 were third party list or directory sites. The comparison list a buyer is read is assembled from somebody else's page far more often than from yours, so the work splits in two: be in those sources, and be quotable when they describe you.
This page gives the measurement with its denominators, the list set the engines reached for in Singapore, the facts to publish before any submission, and the four week sequence. It quotes a reading rather than a search volume, because nobody searches for a sentence like this.
The measurement, with denominators
The instrument is saved answers from ChatGPT and Gemini, not a keyword tool and not Search Console. The run holds 64 blind pipelines across 32 batches, taken on 26 October 2026, with Singapore written into the text of every question because the interface we query accepts a country parameter and answers the same way whether it is set or not. The brand batch, which names us inside its own prompt, is excluded from every figure here.
| What was counted | Figure |
|---|---|
| Batches carrying a buyer question | 26 |
| Citation slots recorded across them | 508 |
| Distinct hosts cited | 321 |
| Hosts on a Singapore domain | 94 |
| Singapore government hosts | 25 |
| Third party list or directory hosts | 19 |
| Engine and platform documentation hosts | 21 |
| Readings in which our own name appeared | 0 |
Being cited is a separate finding on a separate measure and the two are never added. Our own domain was used as a source five times in that audit, and it was among the cited hosts in 3 of the 26 batches.
The list set the engines reached for
These are the 19, named so that a Singapore seller can check each one against its own category rather than take our word for it: clutch.co, themanifest.com, www.designrush.com, thebestsg.com, bestofsingapore.co, mybestsingapore.com, www.singaporebest.com.sg, www.bestinhood.com, techdirectory.sg, www.listing.sg, localrank.sg, lookup.sg, sgpdirectory.com, whitepages.sg, sg.kompass.com, sg.foundific.com, www.capterra.com, learn.g2.com and www.upwork.com, with www.seocompaniesreviewed.com appearing beside them in the search batches.
Three things are worth noticing in that set. Four of them are global software and services directories, which matters for a software seller and not at all for a trades business. Six are Singapore best of publishers, which are the pages that answer the local version of the question. And one, localrank.sg, describes itself on 27 October 2026 as independent Singapore rankings, local guides, business profiles and community recommendations, which is precisely the shape of source an assistant can quote when somebody asks what the best option is.
In the business software batch specifically
The batch carrying the comparison list question named HubSpot in the answer prose of both readings. Our own name appeared in neither. The cited hosts in that batch were seven Singapore agency and consultancy sites, www.rootsdigital.com.sg, www.impactbc.com.sg, www.digitalmarket.sg, www.magnified.com.sg, marketingagency.sg, singaporedigitalmarketing.sg and digitalsquad.com.sg, beside developers.google.com, agencies.semrush.com, blog.hubspot.com and four hosts belonging to the engine operator itself, help.openai.com, openai.com, academy.openai.com and help-lb.openai.com.
That last group is the detail worth acting on. When a buyer asks how to appear in the lists an assistant produces, the engine partly answers out of its own documentation. So the operator's published guidance about how its product discovers and attributes sources is material in the answer, which makes reading it directly a reasonable use of an afternoon.
The facts to publish before you submit to anything
A list editor, and an engine summarising a list, both copy the same small set of facts. If they are not in text on your own site, somebody else's version of them gets used.
- The registered entity name, exactly as it appears on Singapore's ACRA register, and the trading name beside it if they differ.
- The year the company started, and the number of people, both as plain numbers.
- What you sell, in the words a buyer uses, split into the three or four purchases somebody can actually make.
- A price or a price range, with the unit it is attached to. A page with a figure on it can be quoted. A page that routes everything to an enquiry form cannot.
- Who you serve and who you do not, by company size and sector, because this is the line every comparison table has and most vendors leave blank.
- A contactable person, named, with a Singapore phone number and a unit address.
- Something checkable that is not a claim, such as a published method, an export of your own data, or a result with its date and its denominator.
Write them as text on a page rather than inside a graphic or a slide deck. Our own reading of this market on 16 October 2026, across 1,260 readings, found that 82 per cent of recorded citations landed on a page belonging to a company or an agency itself and under 1 per cent on a review directory, which is the reason your own page carries most of this weight even when a list is what the engine quotes.
The honest counterweight, from our own data
Publishing at volume is not the lever it looks like. Between 20 and 22 October 2026 we went from 134 recommendation shaped pages live to 641, then re-ran the buyer question bank. The full account is in what our own null result says about paying for this work, and the result was no measurable change in what the engines named. So buy list placements and publishing as an experiment with a measurement attached, not as an outcome. The measurement is the part that holds its value either way.
There is a second reason the measurement has to come first. Our own run to run test on 22 October 2026 sent 22 buying questions to both engines three times each inside a six minute window, and a brand that appeared at all appeared in all three runs 53.0 per cent of the time on ChatGPT and 26.1 per cent on Gemini. A single reading cannot tell you whether a placement worked, because a single reading cannot tell a change from the ordinary variation between two runs.
A four week sequence a Singapore seller can run
- Week one, baseline. Write the twenty buyer questions your customers actually ask, with Singapore in each one, and take a dated reading on each engine. Record which names appeared and which hosts were cited.
- Week two, your own facts. Publish the seven facts above as text, on one page, with a date on anything that will age.
- Week three, submissions. Submit to the lists that appeared in your own baseline rather than to a generic directory list. Use the registered entity name and the same phone number everywhere, because inconsistency is what makes two listings look like two companies.
- Week four, the second reading. Same questions, same engines, new date, and three runs per question rather than one. Compare the host lists rather than the sentiment of the answers.
Questions about getting into AI comparison lists from Singapore
Can I pay to be in the lists assistants quote
Some of those sites sell placement and some do not, and you should know which before you submit. A paid placement is a legitimate purchase and it is also the kind of thing a buyer may check, so the test is whether you would be comfortable with a prospect knowing how you got there. Ask each site what the criterion is and whether payment affects position.
How long before a new listing shows up in an answer
It varies by host and by category, and we do not publish a figure for it because we have never observed the transition on our own name, which has been zero in every audit we have run. What we can say is that a change is only readable against a baseline, so take the first reading before the submissions rather than after.
Does a comparison page on my own site help
Our own measurement of that question across 507 of our pages is published rather than guessed, and it found no measurable change in naming. A fair, sourced comparison is still worth having, because it is the page a buyer reads before a purchase and the citation data shows company pages carrying most of the weight. Treat it as a page for the buyer first.
Should a Singapore software company target the global directories or the local ones
Both, for different questions. The global software directories appeared in the business software batch and the Singapore best of publishers appeared in the supplier batches. Your own baseline reading tells you which set your category's questions actually pull from, which is a better guide than either assumption.
What should I measure to know this is working
Two rows, kept apart. How often your name appears in the answer text, and how often your domain appears among the cited sources. They fail for different reasons: the first is a recommendation problem and the second is a retrieval problem, and a programme that moves one without the other is telling you which half to work on next.
Why we publish our own zero
Everything above is a method we run on ourselves, and the current result is not flattering. In the audit behind this page our name appeared in none of the blind readings, while our domain was cited five times, and both numbers are printed here on purpose because a page that asks a buyer to measure something has to show its own reading. AI Knows Us produces that file for a business across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews, reporting named and cited as two separate rows, and the first reading at aiknowsus.com needs no account. Ask any supplier you shortlist for a number about itself that is this unflattering.
