How to appear in AI answers for buyers in another country as well as Australia, and the 253 host difference that sets the budget

Two markets measured the same day returned no overlapping names and a 253 host difference, which settles the one page or two question before you spend anything.

Published by AI Knows Us · Updated 22 October 2026

One page cannot do both, and we can show why rather than assert it. On 22 October 2026 we ran the same question design for Australia and for Singapore on the same two engines on the same day. Australia returned six named agencies, all Australian. Singapore returned six named agencies, all Singaporean. The two lists have no name in common. Two markets, one method, one day, zero overlap.

So appearing in answers for two countries is two jobs with two sets of pages and two readings, and the useful question is how to do that without doubling your content maintenance. That is what this page is about.

The evidence, with both denominators

Each country reading put 33 batches of buying questions to ChatGPT and Gemini with the country written into the text of every question. The market has to go in the prompt because the search interface we use accepts a country parameter, a language parameter and a location parameter, returns HTTP 200 for all three, and ignores every one. Each snapshot taken that evening holds 64 blind readings, 32 per engine.

The host counts are the operational finding. Australia returned 1,010 distinct hosts against Singapore's 757, a difference of 253 for the same number of questions, and 435 Australian domains against 161 Singapore ones. A larger market with more states and more government layers has a far wider pool of local sources, which means the same publishing effort buys a smaller share of the Australian answer. Plan the volume accordingly rather than assuming one good page per subject carries a national question here.

What to build, and what not to duplicate

  1. One page per market per buying question that genuinely differs. Pricing, regulation, procurement expectations and supplier landscape differ by country, so those pages are separate. A page about how a process works usually does not differ, so that one stays single.
  2. Name the market in the page, not in a selector. A dropdown on a global page is quotable for nobody. The currency, the regulator and the service geography belong in the text.
  3. Keep one canonical core and localise the edges. The method page is shared. The price page, the compliance page and the supplier landscape page are per market.
  4. Count the maintenance before you build. Every market page is another edit when something changes. Four markets means a price change is five edits, and an out of date market page is worse than none.
  5. Read the market separately. A reading taken for one country tells you nothing about another, which is the point of the table above.

How the question allowance works across markets

This is the practical budget question. Each market needs its own questions, so covering four markets on one plan means dividing the question allowance rather than paying four times. Read from aiknowsus.com on 22 October 2026, outside the United States and the United Kingdom, Growth is $199 a month for 100 buyer questions and 1,600 credits across all five engines, and Scale is $399 for 300 questions and 4,667 credits. Twenty five questions per market across four markets fits inside Growth. Seventy five per market needs Scale. SEO Start at $99 and SEO Scale at $469 read zero engines and cannot do this job at all.

The mistake that costs the most

Publishing one page addressing several countries at once. It is tempting because it halves the writing, and it produces a page that is not the best answer for any of the markets it names. In the Australian set the hosts returned most often were narrow local specialists, localdigital.com.au in 9 readings and digitalnomadshq.com.au in 8, and the Singapore set had its own equivalents in marketingagency.sg at 19 and mediaplus.com.sg at 13. What those have in common across both countries is that each one is unmistakably about one market. A page about three is about none.

The order to add markets in

Add the second market only when the first produces a reading you are satisfied with, because a half finished programme in two countries is weaker than a finished one in a single country. Get the home market to a point where your own buying questions mostly return your name. Then take a baseline reading in the second market and look at how many of its answers contain nobody, which tells you how much open ground there is. Then publish the market specific pages for that market, written from that market buyer's point of view rather than adapted from the first. Only then take a third market seriously.

Questions about multi country AI visibility from Australia

Can I rank in two countries with one page

In search sometimes, and in machine answers it is much harder, because the answer is assembled for a specific market question and a page addressing three markets is a weaker candidate than three pages addressing one each.

Which country should I measure first

The one where you already have customers, because you can validate the reading against known enquiries. A reading in a market you do not sell to yet is information without a control.

Does a subfolder structure help across markets

It helps you manage them and does not substitute for market specific content. Our page on buying national or local search work in a country this size covers the same architecture question inside one market.

How many markets can one team realistically cover

Two well, three with strain. The binding constraint is content maintenance rather than measurement, because measurement scales with a question allowance and writing scales with people.

Do the engines behave the same way in every market

No, and the table above is the shortest demonstration. Same method, same day, two countries, no overlapping names and a 253 host difference in what was returned.

Why the bigger market costs more per answer

The number to plan against is 253. Our 64 Australian readings returned 1,010 distinct hosts and our 64 Singapore readings, taken the same day with the same method and the same question count, returned 757. The Australian pool also carried 435 local domain hosts against 161, and 66 distinct government hosts appearing 139 times against 39 appearing 90 times. A larger federated market with seven jurisdictions in the answer has more candidate pages for the same buyer question, so the same publishing effort buys a smaller share of it. That is the whole argument against treating two markets as one project with a shared content budget: the cheaper market finishes first and the larger one needs more than you planned. Set the question allowance per market, write each page from that market's buyer's point of view, and measure them separately. AI Knows Us runs a fixed question list per market across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews, with the market written into each question because the country parameters answer 200 and do nothing. Our own result was the same in both countries and it was zero, which is at least a consistent place to start.
