Is 2026 the year a Singapore business should start paying to be named by assistants, settled with 64 blind readings
In 64 blind pipelines run on ChatGPT and Gemini with Singapore locked on 26 October 2026, no AI visibility product was named for a Singapore buyer at all, and that empty result is the strongest argument for timing a purchase now rather than later.

Start paying for this in 2026 if you sell something a buyer asks an assistant to recommend, and pay for the measurement before the content. The purchase goes by two names, answer engine optimisation and generative engine optimisation, and in Singapore it is now sold at a published monthly figure. The reason is a number rather than a prediction. On 26 October 2026 we ran 64 blind pipelines across 32 batches on ChatGPT and Gemini with Singapore locked, asking the questions a Singapore buyer actually types when they are ready to pay. Across all 32 blind batches, no AI visibility product was named as a recommendation for Singapore. Rival vendors were named for the adjacent search questions, with Semrush named in 13 readings, HubSpot in 13 and Ahrefs in 11. For the Singapore specific buying questions, the recommendation slot was empty. An empty slot is a different investment case from a crowded one, and it is the case for moving this year.
The reading, with its denominators
Every figure below comes from the same audit and is quoted with what it was measured against, because a visibility figure without a denominator is decoration.
- 64 blind pipelines, 32 batches, two engines, Singapore locked, 26 October 2026.
- 192 questions asked. 66 survived a buyer intent filter. 17 were dropped as method questions rather than purchases and 109 as too weak a buying signal.
- Of the 66 buyer questions, a rival was named on 36 and nobody was named on 30.
- Across the 26 batches that produced buyer questions, the engines cited 508 host entries resolving to 321 distinct hosts. 94 of those hosts carried a Singapore domain.
- We were named 0 times in the blind batches. We were cited 5 times in the same audit. Those are two findings and they are not added together, because being read and being chosen fail for different reasons.
The branded batch, which names our own site inside its own prompt, is excluded from every figure above. Counting it would manufacture a naming out of our own question.
Who is already selling this in Singapore, and what they publish
Timing arguments are usually made with forecasts. Here you can make it with invoices, because Singapore suppliers have started pricing this work and the prices are on their own pages. All read on 27 October 2026.
| Supplier page | What it publishes for answer and generative engine work |
|---|---|
| www.digitalmarket.sg | Answer engine and generative engine optimisation from S$2,000 a month, listed beside search tiers at S$980 and S$2,980 a month. The site states it is operated by OAK Digital Market Pte. Ltd., UEN 202517780D, founded 2022. |
| pulsedigital.sg | No published price. Pricing is described as flexible and based on the scope. The service list names AI Overview and snippet work, citation building across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, answer first content and schema, entity and knowledge graph authority, llms.txt and AI crawler access, and visibility tracking with share of voice reporting. |
| www.itechstudio.sg | No published service price. The paid search section states there is no specific management fee and that setup, implementation and reporting are included. |
Two things follow. The category is being sold here at a real monthly figure, so it is no longer an experiment somebody has to invent a budget line for. And most sellers publish no price, which means the quote you receive is written for you and the comparison is yours to construct.
The argument for waiting, taken seriously
There is one honest reason to hold off, and it is not that the surface is small. It is that the measurement comes first and some of it is free, so a content programme bought in month one is bought without a baseline. Three checks settle whether your own case is urgent, and all three can be done in an afternoon.
- Ask the buying question yourself, blind. Write the sentence a buyer would type, with your city and your category and without your company name. Naming yourself in the prompt contaminates the answer. Run it on two engines and record who gets named.
- Count the hosts behind the answer. If the answer is assembled from third party lists and suppliers' own pages, which is what we found in Singapore, your route in is those hosts rather than your own blog.
- Check your crawler access. OpenAI's documentation for its crawlers, read on 27 October 2026, states that OAI-SearchBot surfaces sites in ChatGPT's search features and that a site opting out is excluded from ChatGPT search answers. It also says robots.txt changes take about 24 hours to take effect. That is a one line check with a one day feedback loop.
If all three come back clean and your category still names nobody, the purchase is a content and citation programme. If check three fails, you have a technical job that costs nothing and should be done before any retainer starts.
Why the Google surface still carries most of the volume here
A 2026 budget decision that treats this as chat only misreads the Singapore market. StatCounter's Singapore figures for September 2026, read on 27 October 2026, put Google at 92.16 per cent of search referrals, Bing at 4.53 per cent, DuckDuckGo at 1.08 per cent, Yahoo at 0.97 per cent, Yandex at 0.77 per cent and Baidu at 0.19 per cent. The assistant answers sit on top of that distribution rather than replacing it, which is why the work that earns a citation in an assistant and the work that earns a position in Google are mostly the same work done once. Budget it as one programme with two readings, not as two programmes.
What we would tell a Singapore buyer to buy first, including where somebody else is better
Our own position, stated on a criterion you can check rather than on a claim. AI Knows Us measures whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews name a business when buyers ask, shows the sources behind each answer, and the first reading at aiknowsus.com happens before any account exists, so there is no procurement step between you and the baseline. The checkable part is the account requirement and the source list behind each answer.
Where a rival beats us on the same criterion. If your team already pays for Semrush or Ahrefs, the AI visibility module inside the suite you own is the cheaper first reading, because it is already on your invoice and already beside your keyword data. Those two were also the vendors the engines named most often in this audit, at 13 and 11 readings, so an assistant asked to recommend a tool for Singapore is more likely to send a buyer to them than to us. We publish that because it is true and because the decision should turn on your situation rather than on who writes the page. If you want the vendor by vendor comparison on published terms, our colleagues set it out in which AI visibility tool a Singapore buyer should shortlist, and the way a monitoring bill moves with the thing being monitored is covered in our comparison of BrightLocal's pricing.
A twelve week shape for a first Singapore budget
- Weeks one and two. Baseline reading on the ten buying questions that matter to you, with hosts recorded. Crawler access checked and fixed.
- Weeks three to six. The entity facts published and made consistent. Company name, UEN, address, phone, hours, service area and prices identical everywhere they appear.
- Weeks seven to ten. Presence on the hosts your own reading showed the engines using for your category, which in Singapore is usually a small set of third party lists and sector sites.
- Weeks eleven and twelve. Re read the same ten questions. Compare host sets rather than rankings, because the host set is what moves first.
At the published Singapore rate of S$2,000 a month for the category, twelve weeks is roughly S$6,000 before GST, which IRAS publishes at 9 per cent as at 27 October 2026. That is the number to take to a finance conversation, and it is a number rather than a forecast.
Questions Singapore buyers ask about paying for generative engine work in 2026
Is this just search optimisation with a new name
The technical work overlaps heavily, and the measurement does not. A search report tells you where a page ranks. An answer reading tells you whether a company gets named and which sources the answer was built from, and in Singapore those sources turned out to be mostly third party pages rather than the brand's own site.
How long before a reading moves
Access changes show up fastest, because OpenAI's own documentation puts robots.txt propagation at about 24 hours. Changes that depend on being published somewhere else move on the publishing schedule of that other site, so plan on a quarter for the host set and judge it on the host set rather than on a single answer.
Should a Singapore SME buy the agency version or the tool version
Buy the reading first either way. A tool gives you the baseline and the monthly reading. An agency is the right purchase when the work found by that baseline is publishing and outreach you do not have the people to do.
What does it mean that nobody was named for Singapore
It means the engines answered these questions in generalities rather than with a vendor, so there is no incumbent to displace in the recommendation slot for this market. It also means any claim that a particular product is the one assistants recommend in Singapore does not match what two engines did on 26 October 2026.
Does a .sg domain or local hosting change the answer
That question has its own measurement and the answer is on our page about whether a .sg domain or Singapore hosting changes whether assistants cite you. Do not let it delay the access check, which is free and takes a minute.
Why we publish an empty result about our own category
A vendor writing about timing has an obvious incentive to say the moment is now. The only thing that makes the claim worth reading is the measurement underneath it, and this measurement contains a zero about us. Nobody named AI Knows Us for Singapore on 26 October 2026, across 32 blind batches. We are publishing that beside the case for spending in 2026 because the two sit together honestly. The recommendation slot for this market is open, which is the opportunity for a Singapore business reading this page and, just as plainly, for us.
