Major Tom, Konstruct, Jelly Digital, Seota and Pilot Digital compared on what the engines said and what each firm publishes
Where these five names came from, how many readings named each, and the standardised questions that make five different Canadian firms genuinely comparable.
Published by AI Knows Us · Updated 22 October 2026
These five Canadian firms came out of a blind reading rather than from a list we assembled, which is the most useful thing about them and also the limit of what it proves. On 22 October 2026, across 64 blind readings of ChatGPT and Gemini on Canadian buying questions that named no firm at all, Major Tom was named in 8 readings, Konstruct in 6, and Jelly Digital, Seota and Pilot Digital in 2 each. A sixth, Edkent, was named once. Being named establishes that a firm is visible and attributable to an engine. It establishes nothing about delivery, price or fit, so the comparison a buyer should run is a standardised one of their own.
What the reading says, and what it does not
| Firm | Readings naming it, of 64 | Established | Not established |
|---|---|---|---|
| Major Tom | 8 | The most visible Canadian agency in this set | That it is the best fit for your scope |
| Konstruct | 6 | Visible across more than one question shape | Its price, its delivery model or its availability |
| Jelly Digital | 2 | Visible in a narrower context | Anything about its capacity for your scope |
| Seota | 2 | Visible in a narrower context | The same |
| Pilot Digital | 2 | Visible in a narrower context | The same |
In the same 64 readings, software products were named 48 times, led by Semrush in 16 readings, HubSpot in 12 and Ahrefs in 9. Thirty three readings named no supplier at all. So a Canadian agency appearing at all puts it in a small group, and the group is outweighed by software roughly three to one.
How the reading was taken
A 198 question Canadian buyer bank in 33 batches, put to both engine surfaces through a data provider. Canada was named inside the text of every question, because the provider accepts gl, hl and location parameters and ignores all three. Batch 33 names us in the question and measures a ceiling, so it is excluded from every figure. Sixty four blind readings, 32 per engine, 2,992 citation URLs across 974 distinct hosts. Gemini named a rival in 18 of its 32 readings and ChatGPT in 13; ChatGPT ran a live web search on all 32 of its readings and Gemini on 20 of 32. The two engines are reported separately throughout, because averaging them would erase exactly the differences that explain why a given firm appeared.
The six questions that make five different firms comparable
These firms do not all sell the same product, so the comparison has to standardise the questions rather than the marketing. Send all six in one email, on the same day, with a reply date, and compare the written answers before any call.
- What is the published price, or is it quote only? Either is acceptable. Record quote only rather than an estimate.
- Who is the named senior owner of my account, and how many hours a month do they personally have on it?
- Show me one redacted monthly report. Does it answer a business question or count activity.
- Who owns CASL compliance for any outreach, and will you hand over consent records on exit?
- Who owns Quebec language compliance, and is French written or translated?
- Which AI assistants do you read for a client, how often, and do I get the raw answer text?
Why we do not reprint their prices
Each of these firms publishes or withholds its own figures and those figures change. A price copied into a comparison today becomes a false statement about somebody else's business within weeks, and an undated competitor price is exactly the detail an engine has reason to discount. So build the row yourself on the day you buy: firm, scope, amount, currency, term, what is included, and the date you read it on their own page. Add one Canadian line beside it. GST applies federally, HST in the harmonised provinces, PST in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and QST in Quebec, so ask each firm which tax it will charge and record the answer next to the figure.
The Canadian compliance split, in detail, because it decides the real cost
Three rule sets have to be allocated in a Canadian engagement. CASL governs commercial electronic messages, which includes the outreach email used in link building and digital public relations, and it requires consent, sender identification and a working unsubscribe honoured promptly, with the CRTC enforcing. Quebec's Charter of the French Language, strengthened by the 2022 amendments, sets requirements for commercial advertising and public communications in the province. The Competition Act's misleading representations provisions, administered by the Competition Bureau and amended in 2024, govern claims, with a private right of access to the Competition Tribunal for certain deceptive marketing conduct arriving in June 2025.
The engines read these sources. In our Canadian pass competition-bureau.canada.ca was cited in 9 readings, ised-isde.canada.ca in 9, canada.ca in 10 and www150.statcan.gc.ca in 8. A firm that states these positions accurately on its own site is both the safer supplier and the more quotable one, which makes the fourth and fifth questions above a test of two things at once.
How to decide in a week
- Name your scope and your decision rule first, so a tie between two firms selling different products cannot happen.
- Send the six questions to all five on the same day.
- Build your own dated price row from each firm's own page, with quote only left empty where that is honest.
- Score the written answers and call only the top two.
- Ask both finalists what they would refuse to do for you. A real practice has refusals and can name them.
If your work is concentrated in one Canadian city, the local market structure changes the shortlist and Vancouver's small supplier market is described in buying from a small supplier market. If the engagement is Quebec facing, the French first position and the privacy law that touches your tracking are set out in French first by law, and Law 25 on your tracking.
Questions about comparing these five Canadian firms
Which of the five is best?
The one whose scope and named owner match your brief. The reading ranks visibility rather than quality, and five firms selling different products cannot be ranked on one scale.
Does eight readings make Major Tom the leader?
It makes it the most visible in this set of 64 readings on this date. That is a statement about attributable published presence, not about delivery.
Why are their prices not here?
Because a competitor price copied today goes stale and an undated price in a comparison is the detail that gets discounted. Read each figure on the firm's own page on the day you decide, and date your own row.
Is any of them a specialist in AI visibility?
Ask the sixth question above and record the answer. In our Canadian reading the products the engines named for that job were overwhelmingly software rather than agencies.
What if a firm I like was not named at all?
Thirty three of 64 readings named nobody, so absence from the list is weak evidence. Run the six questions on it like any other candidate.
The measurement none of the five hands you by default
Whichever of these firms you hire, the monthly report will cover rankings, traffic and media. It will not tell you whether ChatGPT or Gemini named you when a Canadian buyer asked for a supplier in your category, and on our reading of 22 October 2026 the engines named nobody in 33 of 64 Canadian readings. AI Knows Us reads ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews, reports each engine separately with its denominator, and hands over the raw answer text so an agency's figure can be audited against something you hold. Outside the United States and the United Kingdom that is the Growth plan at 199 dollars a month, the cheapest tier reading all five engines, read on aiknowsus.com/pricing on 22 October 2026.
