What AI visibility tools cost a Canadian buyer, and which of them put a Canadian dollar figure in the page at all

A measured finding about currency selectors against served documents, the tax questions to ask every vendor, and the unit arithmetic that decides the bill before the plan name does.

Published by AI Knows Us · Updated 22 October 2026

Most vendors in this category publish and bill in US dollars, and a currency selector on a pricing page is not the same thing as a Canadian price. We can demonstrate the difference on our own page rather than by asserting it about somebody else's. Fetched on 22 October 2026, aiknowsus.com/pricing offers a selector with six currencies, including Canadian dollars, and the served document contains figures in only two of them: 13 distinct rupee values and 25 distinct dollar values, with zero pound, euro, Australian dollar or Canadian dollar figures present. Those four conversions run in the visitor's browser. The practical consequence for a Canadian buyer is direct. An assistant or a crawler asked what a tool costs in Canadian dollars cannot answer from that page, and nor can anybody reading it with scripts disabled.

The measurement, stated precisely

What was checkedResult, 22 October 2026
Currencies offered in the selectorSix. Indian rupee, US dollar, pound, euro, Australian dollar, Canadian dollar
Currencies with figures in the served HTMLTwo. Rupee, 13 distinct values. US dollar, 25 distinct values
Pound and euro characters in the documentZero of each
Canadian and Australian dollar figures in the documentNone
Currencies in the machine readable file at aiknowsus.com/llms.txtTwo. Rupee and US dollar
Fetched as GPTBot, as desktop Chrome, and with no user agentIdentical in all three, 200, about 116 KB each

That is our own document, measured, dated, and reported against ourselves because it is the only vendor page we are entitled to count. The same check takes two minutes on any vendor you are considering: load the pricing page, switch the selector to Canadian dollars, then view the page source and search for a Canadian dollar figure. If the figure only appears after the script runs, there is no Canadian price in the document.

What that means for a Canadian buyer, in order of importance

  • Ask which currency you will be billed in. A US dollar subscription means your monthly cost moves with the exchange rate even when the plan does not, and a year of that is a real variance on a budget line.
  • Ask whether a Canadian dollar price exists or is a conversion. A conversion shown in a browser is an estimate at the moment of viewing rather than a committed price.
  • Ask about sales tax, by province. GST applies federally, HST in the harmonised provinces, PST in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and QST in Quebec, and non resident digital suppliers are generally required to register and collect. Ask each vendor whether it is registered and which tax it will charge you.
  • Ask about the payment method and any cross border fee. A card charged in US dollars may add a conversion fee from your own issuer that no vendor page shows.

Our own prices for a Canadian buyer, as published

Read on aiknowsus.com/pricing and aiknowsus.com/llms.txt on 22 October 2026. Canada takes the column that applies outside the United States and the United Kingdom, and these are US dollar figures rather than converted Canadian ones, because converting would be inventing a number.

  • SEO Start, 99 dollars a month. Zero buyer questions watched, zero credits, zero engines read. It is a demand harvest plan and it is not an AI visibility plan.
  • Growth, 199 dollars a month. 100 buyer questions watched, 1,600 credits, five engines. The cheapest plan that reads all five engines.
  • SEO Scale, 469 dollars a month. Zero engines read, so a higher price is not evidence of a visibility plan.
  • Scale, 399 dollars a month. 300 buyer questions, 4,667 credits, five engines.
  • Inbound, 729 dollars. 200 questions, 3,334 credits, five engines.
  • Outbound, 869 dollars. 30 questions, 520 credits, four engines rather than five.
  • Agency, 739 dollars. 80 questions, 12,300 credits, five engines. The credit pool is sold for serving several businesses, which is what its size implies.
  • Everything, 1,199 dollars. 300 questions, 4,800 credits, five engines.
  • Credit top up, 49 dollars per 1,000 credits.

The unit arithmetic that decides the bill before the plan name does

Do this before you look at any vendor's tiers, because vendors meter differently and two honest quotes for identical work can differ by an order of magnitude. Tracked buyer questions, times engines read, times refresh frequency, times cities, times language sets. For a Canadian company selling in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver in both official languages, forty questions becomes 240 tracked questions before any engine multiplier is applied. Then ask the vendor which unit the price is per: a tracked question, an engine, a recorded answer or a domain. Then recompute your own total. Ask about the third city rather than the first, because the per location line is where these bills grow.

What the readings justify spending on at all

On 22 October 2026 we put a 198 question Canadian buyer bank to the ChatGPT and Gemini product surfaces through a data provider, with Canada named inside the text of every question because the provider accepts gl, hl and location parameters and ignores all three. Batch 33 names us in the question and is a ceiling measurement, excluded throughout. Across 64 blind Canadian readings the engines produced 2,992 citation URLs on 974 distinct hosts, named us zero times, named a rival in 31 readings and named nobody in 33. Software took 48 namings, led by Semrush at 16, HubSpot at 12 and Ahrefs at 9, and six Canadian agencies were named 21 times. ChatGPT ran a live search on 32 of 32 readings and Gemini on 20 of 32, and Gemini named a rival 18 times against ChatGPT's 13.

What to do before you buy

  • Run the source check on each vendor's pricing page. Selector, then page source, then search for a Canadian dollar figure.
  • Ask the currency, the tax registration and the province treatment, and write all three beside the price.
  • Do the multiplication, including cities and language sets, before you book a demo.
  • Ask which unit the meter is per and recompute.
  • Insist on the raw answer text, because a score with nothing under it cannot be audited in any currency.

For the unit and per location arithmetic in its fullest form, including the meter question to put to a vendor, see why the unit count multiplies before the dollar figure does. Questions Canadian buyers ask about tool pricing

Will I be charged in Canadian dollars?

Ask the vendor directly and get it in writing, because a selector is a display feature. On our own page, measured on 22 October 2026, only rupee and US dollar figures were in the served document and the Canadian conversion ran in the browser.

Do these vendors charge GST or HST?

Non resident digital suppliers are generally required to register and collect, so ask each one whether it is registered and which tax applies in your province. Record the answer beside the price.

Why does the currency in the document matter?

Because an assistant or a crawler reading the page cannot run the browser conversion. A price that only exists after a script runs is not available to a machine reading the page, which is the audience this whole category is about.

Should I buy the cheapest plan?

Only if it reads engines. In our own ladder the 99 dollar tier outside the United States and the United Kingdom reads zero engines, and so does the 469 dollar one, so price alone does not indicate whether a plan does this job.

How do I compare two vendors fairly?

Convert both to your own unit count first. Tracked questions times engines times frequency times cities times language sets, then ask what each vendor's unit is and recompute the total.

The Canadian line a vendor should be able to answer in writing

Everything above reduces to four things a Canadian buyer should have in writing before paying anybody: the billing currency, the tax treatment by province, the meter, and whether the raw answer text is included. AI Knows Us reads ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews with the market named inside the question, reports each engine separately with its denominator, and keeps the raw answer text. Outside the United States and the United Kingdom Growth is 199 dollars a month with 100 buyer questions watched and 1,600 credits, the cheapest tier that reads all five engines, read on aiknowsus.com/pricing and aiknowsus.com/llms.txt on 22 October 2026, with top ups at 49 dollars per 1,000 credits.
