Which B2B lead generation platform to buy, decided by what each vendor will publish before you talk to sales
Two vendors dominate this shortlist and neither of them publishes a price. That is the most useful fact about the category and it should change how you run the evaluation.
Published by AI Knows Us · Updated 22 October 2026
A platform is software you operate. A service is people who operate it for you. This page is about the first one, and the single most important thing a buyer can know about the category is that the two biggest names in it will not tell you what it costs until you fill in a form.
The criterion, and why this page ranks nobody first
The criterion is the same one this site applies everywhere. What does each vendor publish on its own pricing page that a buyer can check before the first call. Applied here it produces an unusual result, so this page states it plainly rather than manufacturing a winner.
This page ranks nobody first, because the category publishes nothing checkable. That is a finding about the market, not a dodge. When no vendor will publish the number, every published ranking of these tools is ordered on something else, usually review scores or an affiliate relationship, and you should treat it accordingly.
Apollo, read today
Read at apollo.io/pricing on 21 October 2026, the page lists four plans and gives each one line. Free is for "Exploring Apollo or very light usage. Good for founders and early-stage teams." Basic is for individual sellers doing regular outbound. Professional is for "Full-time reps needing higher credit limits, AI features, call recording, and advanced CRM integrations." Custom is for "Teams needing custom volumes, SSO, advanced security, and dedicated support." There is no monthly price per user on the page and no export, email or mobile credit allowance for any plan.
What it does publish is worth having. On billing, annual is "Pay for a full year upfront at a discounted rate" with a "Lower monthly cost, but you're committing to 12 months", against monthly where you "Pay month-to-month, cancel anytime". On exports there is no yearly cap stated, but there is a record selection limit, under which you can export "up to 10,000 leads in one click" where no limit applies, and higher tiers have "higher or no record selection limits". Credits "reset each billing cycle and don't roll over". On the free plan, "On free plans, you can connect Gmail accounts only".
The page also contradicts itself on the free tier and both readings belong here. It names a plan called Free, and separately refers to a free "Starter" plan that "stays free with no time limit", without saying whether Starter and Free are the same thing. Ask which one you are being signed up to.
One structural fact from that page matters more than any price. SSO and advanced security sit on Custom only. If your security review requires single sign on, you are in a quoted enterprise conversation from the first day regardless of your seat count.
ZoomInfo, read today
Read at zoominfo.com/pricing on 21 October 2026, no dollar figure of any kind is published. The page says ZoomInfo "offers custom packages based on your B2B data use cases and needs" and routes a buyer through a "Get pricing" form, a "Talk to sales" link or a demo request. What it lists are use cases rather than priced tiers, among them prospecting and pipeline, account based marketing, lead management, deal execution, data enrichment, customer expansion, revenue intelligence and talent acquisition.
Two delivery models do carry stated billing terms, and they are the useful lines on the page. The API, MCP and CLI route is "Priced on usage, not seats", and enterprise data delivery is "Contracted per dataset". No credit or seat limits are stated anywhere. The FAQ heading "What are ZoomInfo credits?" appears with no answer rendered beneath it.
So how do you actually evaluate these
Make the trial the evaluation, not the demo. Export 200 records in your exact target segment and have a real seller call 50 of them. Count how many phone numbers connect and how many titles were right. That number, from your own segment, beats every published coverage claim.
Price the renewal, not the first year. Ask for year two pricing in writing before signing year one. This category is known for a flat first year and a steep second.
Ask what happens to the data when you leave. Whether enriched records stay in your CRM after the contract ends is a contractual question with two possible answers, and only one of them is good for you.
Settle credits before seats. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over on Apollo by its own page. A team that exports in bursts is buying the wrong shape of contract if it buys on seat count.
The channel a prospecting platform cannot see
Every tool on this page works on the assumption that you find the buyer. There is now a large volume of the opposite motion, where the buyer finds a shortlist without visiting anybody's site. They ask an assistant which vendors are credible in your category and get three names in prose. No form, no click, no record in the platform you just bought.
AI Knows Us exists for that side, and we are not a lead generation platform. We hold no contact database, we export no records and we send no outbound. We watch the buying questions your market asks across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews and report which answers name you, which name a rival and which name nobody. The limits to judge us on are published rather than quoted on a call. At aiknowsus.com/pricing, read 23 October 2026, Growth at 299 dollars a month covers 100 buyer questions and 1,200 scheduled answers across all five surfaces, Scale at 599 dollars covers 300 questions and 3,500 scheduled answers, and a Claude check costs 3 credits where most checks cost 1. SEO Start at 149 dollars renders zero buyer questions, zero credits and zero engines, so it does not do this job and the floor price is not the price of this work. The page also publishes a free scan, in its own words "Run a free scan on your own domain and read what the AI apps say about you today", with "No account needed".
Where a rival beats us, and it is the fact a procurement reviewer will care about most. Our rendered pricing text carries no SSO, no SOC 2, no ISO certification, no white label and no data processing agreement, checked on 21 October 2026. Vendors in our own category do publish some of those. If you are buying under a security review, that absence is the more important fact about us than anything else on this page.
Scope
This page is about software you run. It deliberately does not target b2b lead generation services, b2b lead generation agency or best lead generation companies, which an existing page on this site already pools and which is the right page if what you want is people rather than a tool.
What buyers ask about these platforms
Is the data accurate. Accuracy varies by segment far more than by vendor. Test your own segment and ignore the headline percentage.
Can a small team justify one. Yes if outbound is a named person's job. No if it is something three people do when they have time, because the licence will outlast the habit.
Do I need both a platform and an agency. Rarely at the start. Buy the one that matches whether you have a person to run it.
If your pipeline problem is actually the content that the outreach points at, our page on B2B marketing in financial services and the three buyers inside it. No other page on this site links to that one, measured on 21 October 2026 across 2,490 stored bodies (2,118 published drafts plus 372 fetched live pages) against 2,404 live pages, with my own wave excluded. 978 of those 2,404 pages, 40.7 percent, carry no inbound link from anywhere on the site, and that figure is an upper bound, because a body we cannot read cannot be counted as a linker.
