Best free influencer search tools compared, and what each free tier stops you doing
One vendor publishes a genuinely free search allowance, several publish free single account checkers, and the rest publish a trial. The thing every free tier withholds is the same
Published by AI Knows Us · Updated 22 October 2026
Free in this category means four different things, and only one of them is a free tier you can run a programme on. The four are a free allowance on a paid platform, a free single account checker, a time limited trial, and the platforms' own in app search, which is free and which most people skip.
Ranked below on a criterion a buyer can check in five minutes, which is what each vendor publishes as its free allowance. Where a vendor's page could not be read, that is stated rather than treated as absence.
First, GRIN, the only published free allowance with a real number on it
Read on grin.co/pricing on 21 October 2026, GRIN publishes a Free plan at $0 a month allowing 1,200 creator searches a month, 2 live campaigns, 10 gifts in total, unlimited CRM contacts and marketplace access. The same page notes that search limits are counted in result pages at roughly twelve creators a page, so the allowance is a real working number rather than a token.
Two things it withholds, and both are the point of this page. Exporting creator lists and contact emails is not included on Free, it starts on Starter at $200 a month, and the Free plan carries a 20 percent management fee on wallet deposits. So you may search and you may not take the contacts out.
It ranks first because the allowance is published, numeric and usable.
Second, HypeAuditor's free single account checkers
HypeAuditor publishes free tools that audit one account at a time, including engagement rate calculators and account audit tools for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus what its site describes as "Start with free media plans, campaign management, and demo versions of other features". Its platform pages state a "227M+ database with 35+ filters".
An honest limitation on reading it. On 21 October 2026 the pricing page served to this request carried no plan table at all, only navigation and feature copy, so the paid tier limits are reported here as not published to that fetch rather than as nonexistent. A fetch that returns a page without the table is a reading failure, not evidence.
It ranks second because single account checking is genuinely free and genuinely useful, and because one or two accounts is the actual need most of the time.
Third, the platforms' own search, which costs nothing
Instagram, TikTok and YouTube all let you search hashtags, locations, keywords and the accounts your own customers already follow, and none of them charges for it. For a brand with fewer than ten creators to find, this is frequently the whole answer, and the shortlist it produces is better than a database query, because the people who already tag you convert at a far higher rate than strangers.
What it withholds. No audience demographics, no fake follower analysis, no contact details and no way to compare a hundred accounts at once.
Fourth, the trials, which are not free tiers
Modash prices by programme size rather than offering a free allowance. Read on modash.io/pricing on 21 October 2026, Essentials is $199 a month, described as "For campaigns with up to 100 creators", with 300 opened profiles a month, 150 unlocked creator emails a month, 100 tracked creators' content and 2 team members; Performance is $499 a month with 800 profiles, 400 emails, 250 tracked and 5 seats; Enterprise starts at $14,700 a year for campaigns above 250 creators. Those are the clearest published limits in the category and none of them is free.
Several other vendors could not be read at all on that date. upfluence.com/pricing and heepsy.com/pricing returned 403, and aspire.io/pricing returned 404. A 403 or a 404 says something about a server, not about a product.
What every free tier in this category withholds
The same thing, consistently: contact details and export. You can look at creators free and you cannot take their email addresses away with you. That is the commercial logic of the category and it is worth knowing before you spend a week building a shortlist you cannot action.
Which suggests a sensible sequence. Use the platforms' own search and your own tagged posts to build the first list. Use free single account checkers to screen for fake followers. Only pay when the volume of outreach, rather than the finding, becomes the bottleneck.
The shortlist your creators cannot put you on
Every tool on this page helps you find a person who will post, on the premise that a human reads the post and acts. That premise is now incomplete, and the clearest evidence is that this category's own vendors have started saying so. Later publishes a product called Creator AEO, listed on its influencer marketing page as "Get cited in AI search", whose page states "Less than 10% of what AI says about your brand comes from content you own", read 21 October 2026.
The gap they are describing is real. When a buyer asks an assistant which product to get, the answer names two or three brands and cites sources the reader never opens. A brand can be everywhere in creator content and absent from that answer. AI Knows Us measures it, watching buying questions across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews and reporting which brands get named. Read on https://www.aiknowsus.com/pricing on 23 October 2026, Growth is $299 a month for 100 watched questions and 1,200 scheduled answers a month across those five surfaces; the $149 SEO Start plan publishes zero questions, zero credits and zero engines and does not read them. One credit is one buyer question, asked on one AI app, once, and a Claude check uses 3; the pricing page sets Growth at 1,200 scheduled answers a month. It finds no creators, so it belongs beside a discovery tool rather than instead of one.
