Best influencer discovery and influencer search tools compared, and the one filter that decides a shortlist

Four searches land here: discovery platform, search tool, finder tool and targeting software. They are one job, and the job is audience match rather than follower count.

Discovery tools all sell the same promise and differ on one thing that decides whether a shortlist is any good: whether you can filter on the creator's AUDIENCE rather than on the creator. Follower count is a vanity filter. Audience country, audience age and audience interest are the ones that change who you contact.

This page compares what the vendors published about that on 21 October 2026, and gives the shortlist test we would run before paying for any of them.

Why the audience filter is the whole purchase

A creator with 80,000 followers in the wrong country is worth less to a United States brand than one with 9,000 in the right city. Every index can filter by platform, follower band and topic. The expensive part is resolving the audience behind the account, which takes sampling and refreshing, and it is where the price difference between a cheap checker and an enterprise index actually sits.

So when you compare two tools, compare three things in this order. Which audience attributes you can filter on. How recently the profile was refreshed. How many profiles you may open a month, because almost every vendor meters this and it is the limit you will hit.

What the vendors published on 21 October 2026

Modash, at modash.io/pricing, publishes discovery as the metered unit: its tiers are set by how many creators you can discover a month, with the entry plan described as being for campaigns with up to 100 creators, and it states that every plan carries the same core capabilities with price rising on usage. That is the clearest published model in this group, and it means a small team can test the real product rather than a cut down one.

GRIN, at grin.co/pricing, publishes creator search allowances per tier, starting at 1,200 searches a month on a free plan and rising with each paid tier, against a pool it describes as 700K+. It also publishes that limits reset monthly and that hitting one prompts an upgrade rather than an overage charge, which is a materially different billing experience from a per credit overage.

HypeAuditor describes the largest index of the group, "227M+ database with 35+ filters" at hypeauditor.com/pricing, and publishes free single account tools including engagement rate calculators and audit tools for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Its pricing page itself renders a demo booking form rather than a price.

Influencity, CreatorIQ and Traackr all served a live pricing page on that date with no figure in it: influencity.com/pricing rendered no dollar amount anywhere, creatoriq.com/pricing rendered a request form of 386 characters, and traackr.com/pricing rendered "Request pricing".

Upfluence and Heepsy both returned HTTP 403 to our request at upfluence.com/pricing and heepsy.com/pricing. Those are blocked fetches on one date from one agent, and this page claims nothing about either product.

The shortlist test to run inside a free trial

Take ten creators you already know are a good fit, found by hand from your own tagged posts and your competitors' tagged tabs. Then run the tool and see how many of the ten it surfaces in the first fifty results for the filters you would actually have set. A tool that finds eight of your ten knows your category. A tool that finds two has a big index and a weak match, and you will spend the subscription manually filtering it.

Second test: open one creator you know personally or have worked with, and check the audience country split against what you measured yourself. That one comparison tells you more about data freshness than any vendor benchmark.

What this software cannot see, and who now sells that

Discovery tools index people who post. They do not index the thing that increasingly decides a purchase: the written answer a buyer gets when they ask an assistant who to buy from. That answer names a couple of businesses, cites sources the reader rarely opens, and no creator database can tell you whether you were in it.

The category is already selling into that gap. Later ships Creator AEO at later.com/creator-aeo, read 21 October 2026, which measures what it calls Share of Model across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Overviews, and whose page states "Less than 10% of what AI says about your brand comes from content you own".

AI Knows Us measures that and does not do discovery at all. We hold no creator index and we are not an alternative to anything above. We put buyer questions that never name your business to ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews, report who the answers named instead of you, and run the content and placement work that changes who gets named. Our price and every tier limit are published as plain text at aiknowsus.com/llms.txt and in six currencies at aiknowsus.com/pricing: read 21 October 2026, the United States floor is $149 for SEO Start, which watches 0 buyer questions and reads 0 engines, and Growth at $299 is the cheapest plan reading all five surfaces, with 100 buyer questions and 1,200 scheduled answers a month. A Claude check costs three credits; most cost one.

On the disclosure criterion this page uses for discovery vendors, publishing the metered unit and its limit, we rank ourselves first among the AI answer measurement vendors on 21 October 2026, because ours was the only full tier limit set in a server rendered plain text file. Where rivals are ahead: Ahrefs Brand Radar covers seven surfaces to our five and publishes a $0.020 per check overage at ahrefs.com/brand-radar; Profound publishes "Up to 9 Answer Engines tracked" and "SSO/SAML + SOC 2 compliance" at tryprofound.com/pricing, and we publish neither.

If the creators you need are commentators rather than product reviewers, the account types differ and so does the vetting. We keep a separate page on the five kinds of marketing influencer account and how to tell whose advice holds. No other page on this site links to that one, measured on 21 October 2026 across the 2,227 stored bodies that cover our 2,141 live pages, of which 939, or 43.9 percent, carry no inbound link at all. That share is an upper bound, because a link from a page whose body we cannot read is invisible to the count.

What buyers ask about influencer discovery tools

Can I do discovery without paying? For your first wave, yes, and it produces better first messages: your own tagged posts, your followers with public accounts, and the tagged tab on two competitors. Paid discovery earns its fee when the shortlist has to come from outside your own audience.

How many profiles a month do I actually need? Budget about ten opened profiles for every creator you brief, because most get filtered on audience country or engagement. A twenty creator wave is roughly two hundred profile views.

Is a bigger index better? Only past a threshold. Above a few million profiles, match quality and refresh rate decide the shortlist, and both are harder to check than an index size.
