Best GEO agency in India: the four firms the engines name are general search companies, and that is the decision

Across 420 India readings the assistants handed back four big general search and marketing firms rather than AI search specialists. Here is what each one publishes about the work, read on 20 October 2026, and how to scope the AI visibility part so you can price it on its own.

Ask an assistant who should do your generative engine optimisation in India and the names that come back are India's large general search and marketing firms. Across 420 India readings on 16 October 2026, 57 of them put at least one of Techmagnate, Schbang, Infidigit or PageTraffic inside the bold these engines use to mark a recommendation. Every one of those four sells search, content, paid media and creative work as its main business, with AI search as a service line inside it. So the first decision is not which firm to call. It is which kind of firm you are hiring, and whether the AI visibility part of the brief can be written as a scope you could buy on its own.

The four names, and what each firm says it sells

Each row below was read on the firm's own site on 20 October 2026. The description is the firm's own, taken from its home page or its service navigation, because a buyer can open the same page and check the same sentence. The llms.txt column is a single fetch of the root of each domain on the same date, and it matters here only because a file at that path is a short public index written for machines to read.

Read the middle column again. Two of the four publish a page that commits them to language model work by name. One publishes a blog post about it and sells creative, media and technology. One folds it into an SEO menu. All four are substantial businesses, and a buyer who wants the AI visibility layer alone is asking three of them for a slice of something larger.

How often a name came back, counted once per reading

The run is 420 India readings, 210 put to ChatGPT and 210 to Gemini, dated 16 October 2026. A firm counts once in a reading however many times it is written there.

  • Techmagnate, 21 readings. Schbang, 21. Infidigit, 15. PageTraffic, 12.
  • At least one of the four appeared in 57 readings of the 420.
  • Of those 57, Gemini accounted for 54 and ChatGPT for 3.

That last line is the one to take to a shortlist meeting. The engine doing almost all of the recommending of Indian agencies in this run is Gemini. A list of suppliers assembled by asking one assistant is a list for one assistant, and the 210 ChatGPT readings in the same set produced three of these names between them.

A separate count, over the same readings, of whose pages were used as sources

This is a different question with its own number, and nothing on this page adds the two, averages them or treats one as a version of the other. Being used to build an answer and being handed to a buyer as the recommendation are different events, and a single blended figure would hide which one a firm has achieved.

Counting the readings in which each firm's own domain appeared in the source list of the same 420 India readings: techmagnate.com in 2, pagetraffic.in in 2, schbang.com in 1, infidigit.com in 1. The Indian domains that carried the source lists in our separate 597 reading run of 15 October 2026 were smaller firms: upgrowth.in in 52 readings, themediaverse.in in 48, nicodigital.com in 44 and hawkorbit.com in 33. Those counts sit on our India measurement page with the full method.

The decision the shortlist cannot make for you

Four names and a count do not tell you what to buy, because the four are not the same purchase. Settle these three in order and the shortlist shortens itself.

One. Decide the tier of supplier before the firm

A 1000 person creative and media group, a 180 person search specialist and a 20 year old SEO shop will each give you a different account team, a different minimum spend and a different person answering on a Tuesday. That ordering problem is the same one Indian buyers face across every marketing trade, and it is worked through city by city for the general case in deciding the tier of supplier before the firm.

Two. Write the AI visibility scope as a line you could buy alone

Name the buyer questions to be tracked with your brand in none of them, the engines to be read one by one, the repeats per question, and who keeps the raw answer log when the contract ends. A firm that sells search work will quote this inside a retainer. Ask for it priced separately too, and read both quotes against whether it replaces a line you already pay for, which is set out for rupee budgets in Indian pricing and the retainer line.

Three. Score the evidence, not the pitch

Every proposal you receive makes a claim about movement. The ten line scorecard built from 102 conversations with the engines themselves, and the three documents worth asking any supplier for, are in how to read the evidence a GEO agency shows you. Mark each line present or absent and the shortlist orders itself on something you can show a finance team.

Where we sit in this, and where these four firms are stronger

We sell an AI visibility product, so we compete for part of the same budget as every firm named above, and that is worth saying beside anything we claim about them. We publish the raw exports, the 102 question bank, the engines used and the dates, and we are not on this shortlist, for a reason worth stating plainly: in all 1,260 readings of that run, across three markets and both engines, AI Knows Us appeared inside the recommendation bold zero times. In a separate count over the same 1,260 readings, our own domain appeared in the source list of 6, and in the India half of the run that figure is 2 of the 210 ChatGPT readings and 0 of the 210 on Gemini.

On the things an Indian buyer often needs most, these firms are ahead of us and we would say so to a prospect. They staff delivery teams in India who will do the work on your site and your Google Business Profile. Techmagnate publishes service pages for vernacular and multilingual search, which matters for a business selling in more than one Indian language and which we do not offer. PageTraffic has been trading since 2002, and continuity of that length is a real thing to buy. Schbang brings creative and media production no measurement product supplies.

Questions about hiring a GEO agency in India

Does being named by an assistant mean a firm is good at this work?

It means the engine produced that name on that date for that question. It is a reading about the engine as much as about the firm, which is why the count above carries its date, its denominator and the engine split. Judge the firm on the evidence it hands you and on the scope clause it will sign.

Should I shortlist a specialist or a full service agency?

Decide what you want owned. If the brief is pages, entity facts, structured data and a measured answer log, a specialist can own all of it. If it also covers paid media, creative and app marketing, a full service firm keeps one account team across the lot, and you then write the AI visibility scope tightly enough to audit inside the bigger contract.

Why ask for the question set before anything else?

Because a question that contains your brand name returns a flattering answer and measures the question. Ask for the exact list, confirm your name appears nowhere in it, and keep a copy from month one.

How many firms should I actually meet?

Four is enough to see the range here. Take one from each tier: a large group, a search specialist, a long established shop and a firm that sells only AI search work, then score all four on the same sheet.

What does an Indian firm publish that an overseas one usually does not?

A rupee invoice with GST on it, and a team in your time zone. Both are ordinary commercial advantages and both are easy to verify before the first call.

The sentence to open your first call with

Ask each firm what it would publish about your business this month that an assistant could quote, and which engine it expects to read it first. A supplier who has an answer to the second half has looked at where its own name comes from, and that is a shorter route to a decision than any list of four, including this one.
