Best jewelry network marketing companies, and the federal guide that sets what gold and sterling may be called
In jewelry direct selling you resell somebody else's product under your own description of it, and the description is the part that is on you. Here are the exact fineness thresholds the FTC publishes, and what happened when we tried to open one company's income disclosure today.

Three phrasings ask this question and they all mean the same thing. "Jewelry network marketing companies", "multi level marketing jewelry companies" and "jewelry multi level marketing companies" are one search for a shortlist of companies whose product is jewelry and whose plan pays you both for selling and for recruiting people who sell. The lists you get back are ordered by revenue, by how long the company has traded, or by somebody's enthusiasm, and not one of those orderings tells you what a consultant takes home.
Jewelry has its own specific thing to check, and it is not the compensation plan. In this category you resell physical product that somebody else manufactured and described, and then you describe it again yourself, in a party, in a message, on a live video, on a reseller page. That second description is the one with your name on it. The federal government publishes the exact words and the exact thresholds, and they are short enough to learn in one sitting.
What 16 CFR Part 23 sets out, read on 21 October 2026
The Guides for the Jewelry, Precious Metals, and Pewter Industries are published as Part 23 of Title 16 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Part 23 tells you what they are in its own scope section at section 23.0(d). "These guides set forth the Federal Trade Commission's current thinking about claims", and "They do not confer any rights on any person and do not operate to bind the FTC or the public." So they are guidance about what the Commission treats as deceptive, rather than a rule with its own penalty attached. They are still the clearest published statement of what a word on a jewelry listing is taken to mean, and every serious supplier writes to them.
The thresholds are specific numbers, which is what makes them useful to a consultant deciding what to write.
| Term | Section | What the guides set out |
|---|---|---|
| Gold, unqualified | 23.3(b)(1) | Using "Gold" or an abbreviation without qualification to describe all or part of a product is the practice the section addresses |
| Karat fineness | 23.3(b)(2) | "a correct designation of the karat fineness of the alloy immediately precedes the word". The example given at 23.3(c)(1) is "14 Karat Gold" |
| Gold filled | 23.3(c)(2) | "When such plating constitutes at least 1/20th of the weight of the metal in the entire article" |
| Gold plate, rolled gold plate | 23.3(c)(2) | "when such plating constitutes at least 1/40th of the weight of the metal in the entire article" |
| Gold electroplate | 23.3(c)(3) | "has a minimum thickness throughout equivalent to 0.175 microns (approximately 7/1,000,000ths of an inch) of fine gold" |
| Vermeil | 23.4(b) | A sterling silver base coated on all significant surfaces with a gold alloy of "not less than 10 karat fineness", with "a minimum thickness throughout equivalent to two and one half (2 1/2) microns" of fine gold, which the section puts at roughly 100/1,000,000ths of an inch |
| Sterling, solid silver, Ster. | 23.5(b)(2) | Those words and the abbreviation are addressed "unless it is at least 925/1,000ths pure silver" |
Section 23.10 adds guidance on quality marks and lists the words it covers, which it gives as "gold," "karat," "carat," "silver," "sterling," "vermeil," "platinum," and more. One more point from 23.4 Note 1 is worth carrying, because it is the exact case that causes trouble in a reselling channel: where sterling silver is covered with a base metal such as nickel which is then plated with gold, calling the result vermeil is the practice the note addresses "unless there is a disclosure that the sterling silver is covered with a base metal that is plated with gold".
Why this is the test for the companies, not just for you
Put the thresholds next to the product descriptions the company gives its consultants to copy. A company that writes "14 karat gold plated over sterling silver, 2.5 micron" has done the work and has given you something you can repeat safely. A company that supplies the words "gold jewelry" with nothing in front of them has handed its consultants the risk and kept the margin, and that tells you something about the operation before you have looked at a single compensation plan.
So the criterion this page applies, to every company in the category including the large ones, is a published one. Does the company publish, for each item, the metal, the fineness and the plating thickness in the terms Part 23 uses. And second, can a prospective consultant open the company's own current income disclosure statement from the company's own website today.
What happened when we ran the second check
We applied it on 21 October 2026 and report the result exactly as it arrived. The Paparazzi Accessories income disclosure address returned HTTP 200 with an empty body. A 200 with nothing in it is the most misleading result a fetch can produce, because every automated tool records it as a success. A web search for a published income disclosure for the same company returned pages carrying large earnings numbers, and every one of those numbers traced back to another page rather than to a document the company published. Those figures are not reproduced here, because a figure nobody can take back to a primary source is not a figure.
ftc.gov itself returned HTTP 503 to our agent on three separate paths on the same day, which is why the federal multi level marketing guidance is not re-quoted on this page.
Why this page ranks nobody first
A first place on a stated criterion needs at least one company to pass it at a readable address. On the day this page was written, the income disclosure we went looking for came back as an empty body, and the alternative figures all came from somewhere other than the company. So there is no ordering to publish, and the useful output is the instruction rather than the list: before you pay a joining fee or buy a starter kit, ask the person recruiting you to send the current income disclosure statement as a file, and ask them to point at the line showing what the median consultant received.
The four questions that beat any ranked list of jewelry companies
| Ask | What a good answer contains |
|---|---|
| What does each product description say about metal, fineness and plating thickness? | Numbers in the terms Part 23 uses, supplied by the company, ready to repeat |
| What did the median consultant receive last year, before expenses? | A figure from the income disclosure, with the year named |
| What must I buy each month to stay qualified? | A specific amount, or nothing. A standing monthly purchase to stay eligible is a cost |
| Can I return unsold inventory, on what terms and in what window? | A written buyback policy with a percentage and a time limit |
If you want to sell jewelry and not recruit anybody
Plenty of people arrive at this search wanting a jewelry business rather than a downline, and the two are separable. Selling your own or wholesale-sourced jewelry through a marketplace keeps the Part 23 description rules and drops the recruitment leg entirely, which changes the whole question from "which company" to "which listings get found". Our page on best Etsy SEO services and the three jobs a seller should never pay somebody else to do covers that side. We point you there deliberately, because no other page on this site links to that one: measured on 21 October 2026, 968 of the 2,343 pages live here carry no durable inbound link from any other page, which is 41.3 per cent and an upper bound, and that page is one of them.
Questions about jewelry network marketing companies
Are the FTC jewelry guides a law I can be fined under? They are guides. Part 23's own scope section says they set out the Commission's current thinking and "do not confer any rights on any person and do not operate to bind the FTC or the public". Deceptive description is still actionable under the general prohibition on unfair or deceptive practices, and the guides are the clearest published account of what the Commission treats as deceptive in this trade.
Can I just repeat the description the company gives me? That is the practical reason to read the thresholds. If the company's description already carries the fineness and the plating figures, repeating it is straightforward. If it does not, you are the one writing the claim.
What does "925" stamped on a piece mean? Section 23.5(b)(2) addresses the words "solid silver", "Sterling Silver", "Sterling" and the abbreviation "Ster." "unless it is at least 925/1,000ths pure silver", so 925 is the fineness that sits behind the word sterling.
Is gold filled better than gold plated? They are different thicknesses of the same idea, and the guides put numbers on both. Gold filled is addressed where the plating is at least 1/20th of the weight of the metal in the article, and gold plate and rolled gold plate where it is at least 1/40th. Gold electroplate is addressed at a minimum thickness equivalent to 0.175 microns of fine gold.
Why does nobody publish a ranked list with real consultant earnings? Because that number is produced once a year, by the company being measured, and only some companies publish it at an address you can reach. Asking for the file is faster than reading another list.
Correction to the zero inbound link claim above, same day
The sentence further up this page says that no other page on this site links to our Etsy SEO services page. That was true when we measured it, shortly before publishing, and it stopped being true within the hour: another page on this site, about eBay SEO tools, gained a link to it in between. We are leaving the original sentence in place and correcting it here rather than quietly rewriting it, because a measurement is only worth anything if the date on it is honoured.
The page on this site that is still carrying no inbound link from any other page, re-measured after this one went live, is affinity group marketing, how to sell through a group your customers already trust, and it is the more useful read anyway if what drew you to a jewelry direct selling opportunity was the group of people around it rather than the compensation plan. On the re-measure after publishing, 952 of the 2,368 pages live here carried no durable inbound link from any other page, which is 40.2 per cent and an upper bound.
