HubSpot marketing automation compared, and the one thing the product page does not put a price on
What HubSpot actually publishes about its marketing automation product, which tier each thing sits behind, and the newest piece of it that is still in beta and still priced nowhere a buyer can read.

HubSpot's marketing automation page is unusually clear about features and unusually quiet about price. Both facts are useful, and the second one is the more useful of the two.
What the product page actually says
We read hubspot.com/products/marketing/marketing-automation on 21 October 2026. Its headline is "Marketing Automation Software", and the capability lines it publishes are these.
"Save time using custom workflows for routine tasks". "Use form and email automation to boost campaign performance". "Convert more leads with automated scoring and journey orchestration". "Automate lead generation with powerful email and forms features". "Build powerful marketing workflows without technical expertise". "Turn leads into customers with journey orchestration".
Read as a product description, that is four things. Workflow automation, form and email capture, lead scoring, and journey orchestration. On AI, the body text says you can "Leverage AI-powered workflows, intelligent chatbots, campaign automations", and the page's own FAQ refers to AI powered segments and AI driven insights.
The tier and price position, stated exactly
This is the part worth being precise about, because it is where buyers get surprised.
The page renders no dollar amount at all. What it does say is that basic features are "available free, with no credit card required", and that premium features come "with the Starter, Professional, and Enterprise editions of Marketing Hub".
So the structure of the purchase is clear and the price of it is not on that page. In practice this matters because the four capabilities above do not all sit at the same tier, and the page does not tell you which sits where. Lead scoring and journey orchestration are the two that buyers most often assume are included and most often find are not at the entry edition. If you are evaluating, the question to put in writing before signing is not "does HubSpot do lead scoring", because it does. It is "which edition is lead scoring in, and what is the contact tier priced at when my list reaches the size I am planning for". Contact volume is the limit that moves this bill, and it moves it after you have committed.
The piece that is newest, and where it actually appears
Here is a finding worth stating carefully because the obvious reading of it is wrong.
HubSpot now publishes an answer engine optimisation product. On the page we read, AEO appears only in the site navigation, where it is listed as "AEO (Beta)" and described as "Answer engine optimization tools that track and improve your brand's visibility in AI results". It is not part of the marketing automation feature content at all. The same is true of agents: "Agent Hub" and "AI agents" appear in the navigation, described as "Your central home for building and managing AI agents across the platform", and the marketing automation content does not describe agents.
What that means for a buyer. HubSpot's answer engine product is real, it is labelled beta by HubSpot itself, and it is not something your marketing automation subscription documents. If somebody tells you that buying Marketing Hub covers your AI visibility measurement, the vendor's own page does not support that, and the word beta is HubSpot's word rather than ours.
This is not a dig at HubSpot. Labelling a new thing beta in your own navigation is the honest version of shipping it. It is simply a gap a buyer should know is a gap.
Where we sit against it, on a criterion you can check
We are not a marketing automation platform. We do not run workflows, we do not send your email, we do not hold your CRM and we are not an alternative to Marketing Hub. On everything this page is actually about, HubSpot is the product and we are not in the category.
There is one narrow overlap, which is the AEO piece, and here is the comparison on a stated criterion. Rank by what each vendor publishes, on its own page, that a buyer can verify before paying, specifically the number of answer surfaces covered and the allowance attached to a named price.
On that criterion we are first, and the reason is narrow rather than flattering. Our ladder at aiknowsus.com/llms.txt, read 21 October 2026, publishes Growth at $299 a month with 100 buyer questions watched, 1,600 credits and all five engines, which are ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews. HubSpot's AEO product publishes neither a price nor a surface count on the page we read, and carries its own beta label. A buyer can compare our allowance to our price today. They cannot yet do that with HubSpot's.
Where HubSpot beats us, plainly. Everything else. If the job is marketing automation, HubSpot does it and we do not. It also publishes a genuinely free tier with no card required, and our floor is $149 for SEO Start, which publishes 0 buyer questions, 0 credits and 0 engines and does not read answer engines at all. And our rendered pricing text publishes no SSO, no white label, no SOC 2, no ISO and no DPA, which we checked on our own page on 21 October 2026. A large company's procurement team will find HubSpot easier to clear than us, and that is a real advantage rather than a technicality.
One more thing a buyer in this market should know, because the vendor landscape moved this year. Semrush, whose competitor analysis page we read at semrush.com/features/competitor-analysis on 21 October 2026, is now an Adobe company, and Adobe has launched its own unified product in this space called Adobe Brand Visibility. The suites are all adding an answer engine line. That is good for buyers and it is a reason to check what a suite's version actually publishes rather than to assume it is included.
What to read next
For the general version of this category, including the single limit that decides which tier you land on, see best marketing automation software compared, and the one limit that decides your tier. We link to it deliberately. When we measured inbound links across 2,286 stored page bodies on 21 October 2026, no other page on this site links to that one, and 939 of our 2,200 live pages were in the same position, 42.7 percent, an upper bound.
HubSpot's free one time AI grade and its paid answer engine product are two different things and the difference catches people out. We separated them at HubSpot AI Search Grader vs HubSpot AEO.
