SE Ranking review: one platform now metered in two units, keywords a day and prompts a day
Everything read from seranking.com on 20 October 2026, including the limits that set the tier, and why the AI side is sold as a product of its own.

SE Ranking is an SEO platform that has added a second product for AI answers, and its plan limits now count two different things at once: keywords tracked daily for search results, and prompts tracked daily for AI answers. That is the whole buying decision in one sentence. A team that will consume thousands of tracked keywords and almost no prompts is buying a different product from an agency whose clients are asking what ChatGPT says about them, and the tiers step both up together. Everything below was read from seranking.com on 20 October 2026, all pages returning HTTP 200 with the content in the first response rather than behind a script.
What is actually inside it
Its own navigation splits the toolset into groups, and the grouping is the clearest description of the product:
| Group | Tools named in SE Ranking's own navigation |
|---|---|
| Core SEO | Rank Tracker, Keyword Research, On-Page SEO Checker, Website Audit, Competitor Analysis Tool, Backlink Checker |
| AI Search | AI Search Toolkit, AI Overviews Tracker, AI Mode Tracker, ChatGPT Tracker, Gemini Tracker, ChatGPT ads tracker, AI Mode ads tracker, SERP Tracker Insights |
| Other SEO | Keyword Grouper, SEO Dashboard, Local Rank Tracker, Backlinks Monitoring, Competitor Traffic Research |
| Agency Pack | SEO Report Generator, Lead Generator, White Label |
| Content | Content Marketing Tool, Content Editor, AI Writer |
| Data access | APIs for keyword research, backlinks, domain analysis, rank tracking, website traffic, website audit and AI visibility, plus an MCP server |
There are three separate products under the brand on that menu, and the distinction matters when you are comparing quotes. SE Ranking is the SEO platform. SE Visible is the AI visibility product. Planable, for social, is a separate company's product reached through a link to planable.io. Its own FAQ states that SE Visible is available standalone, independent of an SE Ranking subscription, which is useful if the AI side is the only part you want.
What sets the price, which is more useful than the price
We record what a vendor publishes and do not reproduce anybody's figures here, our own competitors' included, for a reason set out on our monitoring tools benchmark: a price restated on a third-party page goes stale into a false claim, and the vendor's own page is always current. The figures are plainly in SE Ranking's own HTML on its subscription page, so go and read them there. What is worth knowing before you do is which dials move the number.
Read on 20 October 2026, the subscription page offers two self-serve tiers, Core and Growth, plus Enterprise on application with custom limits. Each self-serve tier is defined by six limits:
- Projects and manager seats. Core lists 10 projects and 1 manager seat. Growth lists 30 projects and 3 manager seats. For an agency, seats usually bind before anything else does.
- Keywords tracked daily. 2,000 on Core, 5,000 on Growth.
- Prompts tracked daily. 100 on Core, 250 on Growth. This is the AI answer unit, and it is the one most buyers have never had to estimate before.
- Domains in GEO research. 5 on Core, 15 on Growth.
- Pages per month in audit. 250,000 on Core, 2 million on Growth.
- API credits. 25,000 on Core, 100,000 on Growth, with MCP access on both.
Growth adds four things that are not capacity: historical data across the project lifetime, guest links for sharing with clients, page changes monitoring, and dedicated support. The page also offers a monthly or annual toggle with a stated annual discount, free migration on an annual subscription, and a 14-day trial with no card required.
The AI side, described exactly as it is published
This is the part of the product most likely to be misdescribed in a comparison, so here is the careful version. In SE Ranking's product navigation, four trackers are named: AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT and Gemini, with two further trackers for ads inside AI surfaces. In its FAQ prose on the same page, the surfaces named are "ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews", and it describes reporting whether a brand is mentioned or cited inside AI-generated answers along with the sentiment of those mentions. So the navigation names four trackers and the prose names a slightly different set, which is worth confirming against your own trial rather than against either sentence.
Its own framing of the difference is accurate and worth quoting, because plenty of buyers still conflate the two: "Rank Tracker shows where your pages rank in traditional search results. SE Visible shows whether and how your brand is mentioned or cited inside AI-generated answers." Those are two separate measurements. A page can rank first and go unnamed in the answer above it, which is why a rank report cannot answer the question an AI visibility report is for. If you are comparing how different vendors frame this, Semrush's AI visibility toolkit is the other large platform addition in the same category, and the readings we publish from our own measurement runs are collected on our proof page for anybody who wants to see what this kind of data looks like before paying for any of it.
Who it fits, and who it does not
- Agencies running many small clients. The clearest fit. Project count, white labelling, a report generator and client-facing guest links are built for that shape of business.
- One in-house team on one domain. Workable, and you will pay for project headroom you never use. Check the seat count rather than the project count.
- A team that wants only the AI answer data. Buy SE Visible on its own. Its own FAQ says that is available.
- A team that needs deep link intelligence above everything. Judge the backlink index on your own domains during the trial, because every platform's link data is its own crawl. What a platform's authority score does and does not measure is worked through in Moz Pro and what domain authority actually measures.
How to get a real answer out of the trial
- Estimate your two units first. Count the keywords you genuinely review weekly, not the ones you would like to watch. Then write down the twenty buying questions your customers ask, because that list is your prompt count, and it is usually far smaller than people expect.
- Load one real project, not a demo domain. A platform feels different on a site with messy history.
- Take one rank reading on a query you already know the answer to. Position data is a sampled measurement, and knowing how a tool's number compares to your own clean check tells you how to read every other number it gives you. The method is in what a position really measures.
- Generate the client report on day two. For an agency this is the feature that gets used every week, and it is the one nobody tests.
- Export something. Check the CSV and the API before the trial ends, because a platform you cannot get data out of becomes the place your data lives.
Questions buyers ask about SE Ranking
Is there a free version?
There is a 14-day trial with no card required, and a logged-out AI visibility check on its own page with a daily attempt limit. The platform itself is subscription only.
What is SE Visible?
It is SE Ranking's AI visibility product, covering brand mentions and citations inside AI-generated answers. Its FAQ states it can be bought on its own without an SE Ranking subscription.
Does it track Perplexity and Claude?
Read on 20 October 2026, the trackers named in its product navigation are AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT and Gemini. Perplexity appears in its FAQ prose describing the surfaces covered. The mentions of Claude on its site are its MCP skills, which let you query SE Ranking data from an assistant rather than track answers inside one. Confirm the live surface list in the trial.
How does it compare to the bigger platforms?
By scope rather than by quality. The large suites carry wider datasets; SE Ranking carries most of the same job categories with agency delivery features built in. Run your own domain through two trials in the same fortnight and read the differences yourself.
How many prompts do I actually need?
Start from your sales calls. The questions a buyer asks before shortlisting, typically between twenty and sixty for one product in one market, are the prompts worth tracking daily. Padding the list with variations of one question multiplies the cost without adding a reading.
Is an SEO platform enough for AI visibility work?
It is enough to see the gap. Closing it is a different kind of work, because the sources an assistant quotes are often not your own site: a review listing, a roundup, a directory profile. A tracker tells you that you are missing from the answer. The fix lives on whichever pages the answer was built from.
The second report nobody asks the tool for
The most interesting column in any AI visibility product is not whether your brand appeared. It is which pages the answer was assembled from, because that list is the only thing in the whole report that is actionable. A brand absent from a recommendation usually has a perfectly good website and no presence on the four or five third-party pages the assistant actually read. AI Knows Us reports the answer and the sources behind it together, for exactly that reason, and the point holds whichever tool you end up buying: when the answer names somebody else, the work is to find out what it read and get yourself onto it.
