There is no second city in Singapore, so the marketing talent question is a wage question, and only one of the three wage sets on offer has a published source
Both assistants corrected the city premise on 26 October 2026 and then gave monthly salary bands that run a level apart, while the one Singapore wage figure with a document behind it measures something neither band is measuring.

No Singaporean city has the strongest marketing talent pool, because there is only one city and it is the country. Both assistants said so when asked on 26 October 2026, and both then answered the half of the question that does have an answer, which is what the people cost. That is where the useful work is, and it is also where the numbers stop agreeing. ChatGPT gave seven monthly salary bands and attributed them to an unnamed 2026 industry salary guide. Gemini gave three bands and attributed them to nothing. The two sets run roughly one seniority level apart. The only Singapore wage figure with a published document behind it is the Manpower Research and Statistics Department's median gross monthly income from employment, which is S$5,775 at mid 2025, and it is not a marketing salary: it covers every occupation and it already includes employer Central Provident Fund contributions, which neither engine's bands do. So budget from the figures your own shortlist is actually asking for, add the employer contribution before you compare anything to a national number, and check the pass floor before you assume a junior band is available to you at all.
Both engines rejected the premise, and that is the first finding
The question was put in the plain form a buyer would use, with Singapore written into the prompt text. The market has to go in the text because the search interface we query accepts a country, a language and a location parameter, answers HTTP 200 to each and ignores all three.
ChatGPT answered: "Singapore itself is the answer. Singapore is a city-state, not a collection of separate cities with independent marketing labour markets." It added that ranking Singapore, Tampines, Jurong and Woodlands as competing cities for talent would be misleading, and that the useful distinction is between the central business district, the regional commercial centres and remote or hybrid teams.
Gemini answered: "Singapore is a single city-state; thus, the talent pool is nationwide, centered primarily around the Downtown Core / Central Business District (CBD) and tech hubs like One-North." It described the country as organised across regional planning zones under a single national economy rather than as separate municipal jurisdictions.
Two engines, one reading each, both refusing a false premise rather than inventing a league table of districts. That is worth recording because the same question shape produces real city rankings in countries that have cities, and a buyer reading those pages for Singapore would be reading the wrong country's answer. What genuinely varies between one Singapore district and another is settled in our page on why there is no outside the city here, and the budget decision that replaces it, and the short version is that district changes footfall and distance in local results and almost nothing else.
The two band sets, side by side, with their sourcing stated
These are the engines' own figures, reported as they were given, in Singapore dollars a month. Neither set is a market survey and neither should be read as one. The attribution column is the point of the table.
| Role as the engine described it | ChatGPT, 26 October 2026 | Gemini, 26 October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Junior digital marketer or executive | S$3,000 to S$3,800 | S$3,500 to S$4,800 |
| Junior search specialist | S$3,200 to S$4,000 | Not given separately |
| Mid level digital marketing executive | S$4,000 to S$5,500 | Reported as mid level manager or specialist, S$5,500 to S$8,500 |
| Mid level search specialist | S$4,500 to S$6,000 | Not given separately |
| Mid level paid search specialist | S$4,500 to S$6,500 | Not given separately |
| Senior search specialist | S$6,500 to S$8,500 | Not given separately |
| Senior manager, director or head of marketing | S$8,000 to S$11,000 and above | S$10,000 to S$18,000 and above |
| What the figures were attributed to | "a 2026 salary guide published by a marketing industry source", not named | No source given |
Read the junior row closely, because it is the one most companies are actually hiring into. ChatGPT's band for a junior digital marketing executive runs S$3,000 to S$3,800. Gemini's runs S$3,500 to S$4,800. The two overlap only between S$3,500 and S$3,800, a window S$300 wide inside a combined span of S$1,800. Gemini's junior ceiling sits inside ChatGPT's mid level band, and Gemini's mid level band tops out exactly where ChatGPT's senior specialist band does. Across the whole table Gemini runs about one seniority level higher than ChatGPT. A hiring manager who checks an offer against one engine and then the other is not getting a second opinion on the same scale, which is the practical reason to go and find a figure with a document behind it.
The one Singapore wage figure with a document behind it
The Manpower Research and Statistics Department publishes a summary table of income on stats.mom.gov.sg. The page carries "Released on: 31/8/2026" and was read on 28 October 2026. Its headline series is the median gross monthly income from employment, including employer and platform operator CPF contributions, of full time employed residents, taken at mid year.
| Mid year | Median gross monthly income from employment, including employer CPF |
|---|---|
| 2025 | S$5,775 |
| 2024 | S$5,500 |
| 2023 | S$5,197 |
| 2020 | S$4,534 |
| 2015 | S$3,949 |
The page names its own source as the Comprehensive Labour Force Survey run by that department, states that the data exclude full time National Servicemen, and states that the figures are for mid year. Taking the first and last rows above, the ten year rise from S$3,949 to S$5,775 is 46.2 per cent, which is our own arithmetic on the published levels rather than a quotation. The same page carries a table of annualised and cumulative changes, and in the document served to us it held more values than it had column headings, so nothing from that table is restated here. A figure you cannot line up with its own label is a figure to leave alone.
Why that figure is not a marketing salary, and what to do about it
Two differences matter and both change the answer.
- It covers every occupation. It is the midpoint of all full time employed residents, from warehouse supervisors to surgeons. A marketing role can sit well above or well below it and nothing is wrong.
- It already includes the employer's CPF contribution. The engines' bands do not. ChatGPT said as much in its own answer, noting that employer CPF, bonuses, recruitment fees, software and training sit on top of the salary figure. So the two cannot be compared as printed.
Put them on the same basis before you use either. Employer CPF runs at 17 per cent of wages for an employee aged 55 and below, read from cpf.gov.sg on 27 October 2026 and set out with the full arithmetic in our page on a marketing manager against an agency for the same money, settled with the published employer inputs. Grossing the engines' bands up by that 17 per cent gives the following.
| Band as given | On the same basis as the national median | Against S$5,775 |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT junior, S$3,000 | S$3,510 | Below |
| Gemini junior, S$3,500 | S$4,095 | Below |
| Gemini junior ceiling, S$4,800 | S$5,616 | Below, just |
| Mid level, S$5,500 | S$6,435 | Above |
| ChatGPT senior specialist, S$6,500 | S$7,605 | Above |
| Gemini senior, S$10,000 | S$11,700 | Roughly twice |
Both engines' entire junior range, grossed up, sits below the national median. That is not a criticism of either band. It is the thing a finance director needs to see before anybody quotes a national average in a hiring conversation, because the two numbers were never measuring the same object.
The constraint that replaces the city question
In a country with several cities, a talent question is a geography question: where are the people and what do they charge there. In Singapore the pool is national and the binding constraint is a published floor rather than a map. If the candidate needs an Employment Pass, the Ministry of Manpower publishes a qualifying salary that functions as a legal minimum, currently S$5,600 and rising with age, with S$6,000 applying to new applications from 1 January 2027, read on mom.gov.sg on 27 October 2026 and set out in the page linked above. A retainer with a supplier has no statutory floor at all.
Line that up against the tables. Every junior band either engine gave is below the current pass floor. So a junior marketing hire at those figures is a hire from the resident workforce, and the engines' junior bands are describing a pool the pass route does not reach. That single fact reorders the question from "where is the talent" to "which of these roles can I fill at all, and from which pool", and it is the version of the question worth putting in front of a board.
What is genuinely scarce here, as opposed to expensive, is a separate matter and we have measured it elsewhere: our page on which three marketing skills to buy in Singapore and which to train sets out a hire, contract or train decision per skill, and it prints no pay figure for the same reason we still have none of our own to print.
What this page is not, and who should answer the pay question
We have not run a Singapore salary survey or a vacancy survey, so no figure above is ours. What is here is one government table with its release date, two engine readings with their attributions stated, and arithmetic you can repeat. For an actual offer, the figures that matter are the ones your own shortlist is asking for, and the people who can price a specific role against a specific market are recruiters who fill it every week. Take three asks, gross them up by the employer contribution, and check the pass position before the offer goes out.
Questions about marketing pay and hiring in Singapore
Which part of Singapore has the best marketing talent?
The question does not divide. The labour market is national, candidates commute across the island, and both engines said so without being pushed. If you want a geographic answer for a different reason, such as where candidates expect an office to be, the concentration both answers pointed at is the central business district and the One North area, which is a commuting and property observation rather than a talent one.
What does a marketing manager cost in Singapore?
On the two readings here, a mid level manager or specialist was put between S$4,000 and S$8,500 a month depending on which engine answered and how the role was titled, with neither figure sourced to a named document. Add 17 per cent employer CPF for a resident hire, then add recruitment, equipment, software seats and leave cover as one line. The full worked arithmetic, with the published inputs rather than estimates, is on our hire against agency page.
Is the national median income a useful hiring benchmark?
It is useful for one thing: knowing where a role sits relative to the whole workforce. At S$5,775 for mid 2025 it is a median across every occupation, including employer CPF, so it answers "is this offer above or below the middle of the country" and nothing narrower. It cannot tell you what a search specialist should earn.
Why do two assistants give different salary bands for the same role?
Because each assembles its answer from whatever pages it reached, and the salary guides in this category are published by recruiters with different client books and different definitions of a job title. One engine said its table came from a 2026 industry guide without naming it, and the other gave no source at all. When two unnamed sources disagree, the disagreement is the finding.
Does the Employment Pass floor change what I can hire?
It changes which pool a role can be filled from. The published qualifying salary is a minimum rather than a negotiation, so a role budgeted below it is a resident hire by definition. Check the current figure on the Ministry of Manpower's own pages on the day you make the offer, because the published floor moves and a new figure applies to new applications from 1 January 2027.
Is hiring cheaper than retaining an agency at the same monthly figure?
At the same figure a supplier usually delivers more production and a hire delivers more context that compounds while the person stays. The honest comparison puts full employment cost on one side, including the employer contribution and the setup, against the full supplier cost on the other, including anything outside the fee such as media and production.
The number to write down before any of this is useful
A wage band is only meaningful against a job description, and the job description for a Singapore marketing hire has changed faster than the salary guides have, which is the argument of our page on the marketing skills a Singapore business will need in 2027 and is not buying today. Both of these readings were taken on engines that a growing share of your own buyers now ask for supplier recommendations, and neither band set contains a role whose job is to watch what those engines say about your company. Whether that belongs in a hire, a supplier contract or nobody's job description yet is a decision worth making deliberately rather than by omission, and the cheapest version of it starts with one person spending an afternoon asking the engines your own category question and writing down what came back, with the date beside it. That costs nothing, it produces a figure that is yours, and it is the only number in this whole subject that no published guide can give you.
