Which UAE agency to pick for AI search visibility, and what two engines said about five Dubai firms

We asked ChatGPT and Gemini 198 UAE buying questions on 22 October 2026 and counted every firm they named, including the five the question put in front of them.

If you are shortlisting a UAE agency to get your business named inside AI answers, the first thing to settle is whether the agency can show you a reading. Not a deck, not a methodology slide, a saved answer from a named engine on a named date for a question a buyer would actually type. We ran that exercise at scale for the United Arab Emirates on 22 October 2026, and the result tells a UAE buyer more about this market than any agency page does.

What we ran, and why the market had to go inside the question

We put a 33 batch, 198 question set to ChatGPT and Gemini. Every question was a UAE buying question, and the market was fixed by a lock line written into the prompt text. That detail matters because the usual way to fix a market, the gl, hl, location and country parameters, is accepted by the search API and then ignored: it returns a clean 200 and answers from somewhere else entirely. If an agency tells you it ran a UAE reading by setting a country parameter, ask to see the prompt. If the country is not in the prompt, the country was not in the test.

That produced 60 blind readings for the United Arab Emirates: 32 from ChatGPT, 28 from Gemini. Two further readings named our own business inside the question, so they are excluded from every figure here and reported separately at the end.

The headline a UAE buyer should act on

  • In the 60 blind UAE readings, 26 named at least one supplier and 34 named nobody at all. For most UAE buying questions, both engines answered the question and declined to name a single firm.
  • The named list is dominated by global software, not UAE agencies. HubSpot appeared in 17 readings, Semrush in 9, Ahrefs in 7.
  • Across all 60 readings the two engines produced 2,812 citation URLs from 1,003 distinct hosts, and 743 of those hosts were cited exactly once. There is no stable short list of sources to buy your way onto.
  • The two engines are not comparable on sourcing. ChatGPT carried 2,729 of those 2,812 URLs. Gemini carried 83, and 9 of its 28 UAE readings carried no citation at all.

Read the last point twice before you buy a tool or a retainer that reports one blended number across engines. On this dataset, a UAE question answered by Gemini usually arrives with nothing you can audit.

The five Dubai firms, and the difference between prompted and unprompted

One batch named five UAE agencies inside the question and asked the engines to compare them: Nexa, Digital Nexa, Traffic Digital, Prism Digital and Element8. Both engines answered. That reading is useful for a different reason than it looks: a firm named in the question is a firm the engine was handed. The honest test is how often each one turned up in the other 58 readings, where no question named any firm.

So of the five firms the question put forward, three were named somewhere else in the set and two appeared only when the question put them there. Nexa is the one with real unprompted presence: it came up when the question was about choosing an agency, about who to hire for SEO, about social and content, about email and CRM, and about the UAE cities, across both engines. That is a measurement of share of answer, and it is the only agency figure on this page that was not handed to the engine.

None of this ranks the five on quality of work, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It ranks them on presence in two engines on one day. Use it as a shortlisting input and ask each firm the questions in the next section.

Six questions to put to a UAE agency selling AI visibility

  • Show me a saved reading with the market in the prompt. Engine, date, question, answer. If the market was set by a parameter, the reading is not about the UAE.
  • How many prompts, and how many runs each? One answer is an anecdote. A number you can repeat monthly needs a fixed question set.
  • Which engines, and do you report them separately? Anyone averaging ChatGPT and Gemini on this data is averaging 2,729 citations with 83.
  • What will you change on my site, and who deploys it? Settle whether your developer or theirs ships the change before the first invoice.
  • Who owns the accounts and the pages at the end? Ad accounts, analytics, the content. Put it in the contract, not the kickoff call.
  • What does the monthly report contain when nothing moved? The honest answer to that question is the best predictor of month six.

Where the UAE answers actually came from, which changes what you publish

Of the 60 readings, 38 cited at least one .ae host and 16 cited a UAE government host. There were 208 distinct .ae hosts in the set and 41 distinct government ones, led by u.ae in 15 readings and the Ministry of Economy at moec.gov.ae in 8. Directories were thinner than the pitch decks claim: clutch.co appeared in 11 readings, goodfirms.co in 5, designrush.com in 3, g2.com in 2 and trustpilot.com in none.

What outranked the directories was small UAE agency sites publishing their own material: slmarketing.ae in 11 readings, rath.ae in 9, bigalc.ae in 8. If an agency tells you the route to being named is a directory listing, this set does not support it. The route in this data is your own pages plus whatever the engines read on government hosts and the local press.

One caution on the source list. The UAE set includes ccn.web.tr and a host of the form developers-google-com followed by a random string. Those are proxies and mirrors, not publishers. They must never be counted as a source and never merged into the host they imitate, and any report that lists them as citation sources was not read by a person.

Questions UAE buyers ask when shortlisting an AI visibility supplier

Is a UAE agency better for this than an overseas one? On this evidence the decision should rest on who can produce a dated reading with the market in the prompt and who can ship changes to your site. Several of the firms with real unprompted presence here are UAE based, which is a fact about this dataset rather than a rule about suppliers.

Does an agency need a Dubai office? Not for this work. It needs the ability to publish on your site and to answer in your working day. If you also need a local invoice and a local entity, that is a finance requirement rather than a marketing one, and it is worth settling early.

Can I just check the engines myself? You can, and you should do it once before you buy anything, because it tells you which of the two problems you have. If the engines name nobody in your category, the work is to become the first name. If they name rivals, the work is to get into that list.

How long before a change shows up in an answer? Set the baseline first and re-read the same questions monthly. A programme without a baseline reading cannot show you a before and after, whatever it reports.

What should the first month produce? A fixed question set, a dated baseline per engine, and a written list of the pages and off site sources to change. If month one produces a strategy document and no reading, you bought a document.

The reading we could not take, and the one we did

Two things in this run are worth your scepticism, so we will state them ourselves. First, nine Gemini readings in the UAE set returned no citations, so the source analysis above leans heavily on ChatGPT. Second, uaelegislation.gov.ae, a host the engines cited four times in this set, returned HTTP 403 to us on 22 October 2026, so we quote no legislative text from it here; a 403 records what a server did on a date and is not evidence about the content behind it.

The two excluded readings are the useful counterweight. When the question named our own business, both engines named it and cited it. That is the ceiling measurement, it proves only that the question can carry the answer, and it is exactly why the other 60 readings were run blind.

What we do with this, and what it costs a UAE buyer

AI Knows Us is the measurement half of this problem rather than another agency bidding for the retainer: we read ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews against a question set you keep, and report which answers named you and which named somebody else. For a buyer in the United Arab Emirates the plan that reads all five engines starts at 199 dollars a month, which is the price outside the United States and the United Kingdom, read from aiknowsus.com on 22 October 2026. The two cheaper tiers on that page read zero engines, so neither is an AI visibility plan whatever the name suggests.

If the agency question is what you are really settling, the channel comparison for Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah is laid out in our page on digital marketing agencies in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, which covers the permits and the data rules that sit under each channel.
