Rankscale vs Semrush for an agency, one sells an agency plan and the other sells an agency four add ons

Rankscale publishes 50 brand dashboard slots, white labelled dashboard links and a named agency programme at 385 dollars. Semrush gets an agency to the same place through a plan plus a report add on, a directory add on and a charge per colleague.

If you are buying this for clients rather than for one brand, the comparison is not about engines. It is about containers, branding and heads, and the two vendors package those completely differently. Read on 31 October 2026, rankscale.ai/pricing publishes Growth at $385 a month, or $327 billed yearly, with 5,500 credits, 22,000 answers from AI engines, 50 brand dashboard slots with extra slots addable in the app, 200 page audits a month, white labelled dashboard links with API, and an agency programme listed as lifetime affiliate commissions and client discounts, a configurable entry in a partner agency directory, accelerator webinar sessions and an exclusive resources and Slack channel.

On the same day www.semrush.com/pricing publishes Pro+ at $299 a month, or $248.17 annually, with 15 websites to monitor, 1,500 keywords and 100 prompts to track daily, and then publishes the agency pieces separately in its add on panel: Pro Report at $20 a month, which is where branding and white labelling sit, Lead Generation at $90 a month for a branded profile on its agency partners platform and a verified badge, and Additional Users starting at $45 a month.

The assembled agency bill, our arithmetic on published figures

Running total, our addition$385$544

That total is our addition of Semrush's own published prices and it is not a criticism of the product, which includes an SEO suite Rankscale does not have. It is the shape of the purchase. An agency buying Rankscale buys one line item. An agency buying Semrush buys a platform and then pays separately for branding, for the directory listing and for each person who opens it.

Containers are the number that runs out first

Fifty against fifteen is the gap to look at, because client count is what forces an upgrade in agency work. Rankscale publishes brand dashboard slots per tier at 2, 10, 25, 50 and 100 and states that extra slots can be added in the app at any time, so the ladder is granular and the overflow has a published route. Semrush publishes websites to monitor at 5, 15 and 40 or more, with the 40 or more tier being Advanced, which is custom and requires a demo.

The two counts are not quite the same unit. A Semrush website is a monitored property inside an SEO platform; a Rankscale brand dashboard is a container for one brand's AI visibility. For an agency with thirty clients that distinction stops mattering, because only one of the two vendors publishes a plan that holds thirty without a sales conversation.

Scheduling, which is how an agency keeps the bill down

Rankscale publishes scheduling from hourly to monthly, credit rollover of up to two times and up to three times depending on tier, top ups that stay active through the subscription, and a per engine credit weight: Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini at 0.25 each, DeepSeek at 1 and Anthropic Claude at 2. For twenty clients that is the difference between an affordable plan and an unaffordable one, because the client who needs daily checks and the client who needs quarterly ones can sit on the same plan at different rates.

Semrush publishes prompts to track daily, 50 on Starter, 100 on Pro+ and unlimited on Advanced, with daily, weekly and monthly data updates named on its AI Visibility plan. The allowance is a count of prompts rather than a pool of capacity, so an agency sizes the plan by its largest total and carries the unused part.

What each one gives you to put in a client report

Rankscale publishes shareable dashboard links on every tier, white labelled links with API higher up, CSV and Sheets exports, MCP, a Data Studio integration, a REST API from Pro+, sentiment analysis, citations analysis, query fanout, local results, AI visits, shopping analysis, ad analytics and Rankscale Scout recommendations. It also publishes a changelog in its footer, which is a small thing that matters when you are answering a client asking what changed.

Semrush publishes the broader dataset and the deeper SEO reporting: historical SEO data, keyword cannibalisation analysis, competitor insights, multi location and device tracking, share of voice on its higher tier, prompt research, competitor research, an AI visibility overview, an AI ready site audit and MCP access, with a Base Report at $10 a month pulling data from 20 or more tools into a schedulable PDF and the $20 Pro Report adding 20 or more external integrations, delivery at a specific time, white labelling and sharing by link.

One ownership fact to put in front of a client

Semrush is part of Adobe. The headline Adobe Completes Semrush Acquisition is on investors.semrush.com/news-releases, read on 31 October 2026, beside a release headed Introducing Adobe Brand Visibility and a customer FAQ about the acquisition. For an agency that matters in a specific way: you are reselling or recommending a tool whose roadmap now sits inside a much larger company, and clients who are already Adobe customers will ask about overlap. Rankscale publishes that it is Rankscale GmbH and that it contributes 1 per cent of purchases to carbon removal, which is a smaller company with a shorter chain of decision making.

Which to buy

  • More than fifteen client brands. Rankscale Growth, on 50 published slots with more addable in app.
  • Client reports that carry your logo and not the vendor's. Rankscale includes white labelled dashboard links at Growth; Semrush publishes it as a $20 a month add on, which is cheap and is a second line item.
  • You already sell SEO from Semrush and want one invoice. Semrush, and the honest version of that decision is Pro+ at $299 plus the add ons you actually need rather than all of them.
  • Clients on very different checking rhythms. Rankscale, on hourly to monthly scheduling and credit rollover, which is the only published mechanism in this pair for sharing capacity unevenly.
  • You want to be listed where buyers look for agencies. Both publish a directory, Rankscale's inside its agency programme and Semrush's through the $90 a month Lead Generation add on with a verified badge.

What we publish for an agency, and the line where we lose

We sell in this category and we publish an agency position with a number on it, so it belongs in this comparison. Read on 31 October 2026 our pricing page carries an agency calculator with four controls, client brands, questions each, pages each a month and emails each a month, and on its default setting it prints 10 brands, 800 questions, 80 pages a month and 9,200 AI answers read at $739 a month. The comparison table on the same page publishes Businesses covered as 10 on the agency plan.

Ten brands is fewer than Rankscale's published 50 slots at $385, and we publish no white labelling anywhere, where Rankscale includes white labelled dashboard links at Growth and Semrush sells white labelling for $20 a month. On both of those an agency should prefer either vendor on this page to us. We publish Logins included, 1, full access, where Rankscale publishes team workspaces with unlimited seats, and no single sign on at any tier. What our agency number includes that neither of theirs does is the 80 pages a month written and published across those clients, which is production rather than reporting, and the fifth engine, since all five of ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews are on the GEO plans with Claude at a published 3 credits a check.

If this comparison is really a decision about leaving a suite you already pay for, our page on how to cancel Semrush sets out the published process, which is worth reading before the renewal rather than after it.

Questions an agency asks about Rankscale and Semrush

How many client brands does each plan hold

Rankscale publishes 2, 10, 25, 50 and 100 brand dashboard slots across its tiers, with extras addable in the app. Semrush publishes 5, 15 and 40 or more websites to monitor, with the top tier being custom.

What does white labelling cost at each one

Nothing extra at Rankscale Growth, where white labelled dashboard links are listed as included with API. $20 a month at Semrush, as the Pro Report add on, which also adds external integrations, timed delivery and sharing by link.

Do I pay per colleague

At Semrush, yes, Additional Users start at $45 a month. At Rankscale, no, its matrix publishes team workspaces with unlimited seats on its paid tiers.

Can one plan serve clients on different checking frequencies

Rankscale publishes scheduling from hourly to monthly against a shared credit pool, which is designed for exactly that. Semrush publishes a daily prompt tracking allowance per plan with daily, weekly and monthly data updates, so the allowance is sized to the total rather than shared unevenly.

Which gives better evidence to show a client

It depends which client. For AI answers specifically, Rankscale publishes citations analysis, source box analysis, query fanout, local results and sentiment on its paid tiers. For a client who wants AI visibility set beside rankings, traffic and backlinks in one document, Semrush's reporting add ons and dataset do that and Rankscale does not.

Is there a cheap way to test either before committing clients

Rankscale publishes a free trial of Pro, which is the tier where exports and sentiment live, and an Essentials tier at $20 a month sold yearly only. Semrush publishes a free plan at $0 with 1 demo project and 10 reports a day. Run both on one real client before you move the rest.

How we know this

We read the assistants rather than guessing what they do. In our own audit of 1,260 saved answers from ChatGPT and Gemini across the United States, the United Kingdom and India, 82.0% of every citation landed on a site the business itself owned, and review directories took 0.7%. Counted as one domain per reading, 16,516 of 20,143.

That is the whole asymmetry: the pages you own are the pages an assistant quotes back to a buyer. See the dated readings and the method on our proof page.

Find out whether assistants name your business, on your own domain and your own buying questions.
