What SEO tools really cost a Singapore buyer, the GST route and the currency nobody bills you in
Licensing structure and published figures read from each vendor on 26 October 2026, plus the reverse charge and overseas vendor rules that decide your real Singapore cost.
Published by AI Knows Us · Updated 26 October 2026
Almost every SEO tool a Singapore business buys is priced in a currency Singapore does not use, so the figure on the vendor's page is not the figure your finance team pays. The Singapore cost of a tool subscription is the list price, plus 9 per cent GST handled one of two different ways depending on whether you are GST registered, plus whatever the card issuer charges to convert. Across the vendors we read on 26 October 2026, exactly one served a Singapore buyer a figure labelled as including GST, and not one of them offered Singapore dollars in its currency selector. That is the whole of the problem, and it is fixable in about ten minutes of checks before you subscribe.
This page gives the licensing structure and the published figures we could read from each vendor's own page with the date, explains the two GST routes under Singapore's imported services rules, and lists the four questions that turn a list price into a budget line.
The structure that decides your bill, before the price does
SEO tools charge on three different units, and picking the wrong unit costs more than picking the wrong vendor.
- Per seat. Every person who needs a login is another subscription. This is the unit that surprises Singapore teams most, because a small team here often shares one login and then finds the terms do not allow it.
- Per site. One fee covers one domain. Fine for a single business, expensive for an agency or a group with several brands.
- Per unit of work. URLs crawled, keywords tracked, analysis units consumed. The subscription is a quota, and the real question is what happens in the month you exceed it.
What each vendor published on 26 October 2026
Every figure below was read from the vendor's own pricing page on that date, in the currency that page served. Prices and plan names in this category move, so treat these as a dated snapshot and open the page before you buy.
Screaming Frog SEO Spider
The clearest licensing model in the category and the easiest to budget. The crawler is free up to 500 URLs. A licence to go beyond that and to reach the advanced features is published at USD 279 per licence per year for one to four licences, USD 265 for five to nine, USD 249 for ten to nineteen and USD 235 for twenty or more. The page states that licences are per user, that two users require two licences, and that a licence lasts one year and must then be renewed. The currency switcher on that page offers US dollars, pounds and euros. There is no Singapore dollar option.
For a Singapore team this is the cheapest real decision on the page: count the people who will actually open the application, because the unit is users rather than sites. Our page on the setup, the first crawl and the reports to read in order is worth reading before you buy, because the free 500 URL tier is enough to answer whether you need the licence at all.
Yoast SEO
Requesting yoast.com/pricing/ on 26 October 2026 redirected to the company's own portfolio change announcement rather than to a price table, which is itself the first thing a buyer should know. The announcement states that from 1 July 2025 the ten separate Yoast plans for WordPress were replaced by two subscriptions, Yoast SEO Premium and Yoast WooCommerce SEO. On the Premium product page, one seat is included and the page states that further seats are available "at $5 (excl. VAT) per month each". The currency selector offers US dollars, euros and pounds.
Two Singapore specific points follow. The phrase "excl. VAT" tells you the pricing was written for a European buyer, and Singapore charges GST rather than VAT, so the tax line on your invoice will not match the wording on the page. And because the paid product is now one of two subscriptions rather than ten, a Singapore site that previously bought a single add on is buying a bundle. Our page on what Yoast does and when Premium is worth it covers which of the paid features change anything on a small site.
All in One SEO
The figure to plan for here is the second year, not the first. The vendor's own pricing FAQ, read on 26 October 2026, states that renewal pricing is higher than the introductory rate, that the Basic plan "renews at $99/year versus its $49.50 regular price", and that "the pattern holds across all plans at roughly double the initial rate". The same FAQ places redirect tools on the Pro plan and above, keyword rank tracking in Search Statistics on Elite only, and Local SEO on Plus and above. So the plan you need is decided by one or two named features rather than by the headline price, and the budget you need is roughly double what you pay to start. Our comparison of where one all in one suite is enough sets out which jobs a single plugin genuinely covers.
Hike SEO
Published on hikeseo.co on 26 October 2026: a Single Site plan at $149 a month billed monthly or $89 a month billed annually, with the annual option shown as $1,068 billed today, and a Multi-site plan at $299 a month billed monthly or $179 a month billed annually with a selector for the number of websites. The single site plan lists up to 300 keywords tracked, monthly website optimisations, monthly blog content creation, directory listings, Google Business Profile management and monthly reporting, and the page states a 14 day money back guarantee. The currency selector offers US dollars and pounds only.
Note what that product actually is. At those inclusions it is closer to a managed service than to a tool, which makes it comparable with the Singapore agency retainers rather than with a crawler licence. The Multi-site tier carries a white label feature set, which places it in the reseller market.
Majestic
Majestic's plans and pricing page returned a full page on 26 October 2026, and the plan figures were not served as readable text beside their plan names, so no figure from it is reproduced here. What the page does state in plain text is useful on its own: payment by Visa, American Express, Mastercard and PayPal, bank transfer available for annual billing accounts at the Pro level and above, offline billing available for annual plans at Pro and above, and a seven day money back guarantee on Lite and Pro for a first ever subscription. For a Singapore company that needs a purchase order and a bank transfer rather than a corporate card, the bank transfer condition is the line that decides whether procurement can buy it at all.
Ahrefs
Ahrefs prices its newer brand and AI visibility reporting separately from its core SEO plans, which means the plan that covers your keyword and backlink work may not cover the reporting you were shown in the demonstration. We do not reproduce the ladder here; read it on the vendor's own page with the date you read it, and ask explicitly which line items sit inside the plan you are quoted. Our page on which Ahrefs tools do which job, and what is priced separately sets out the split.
Wix
"Wix SEO price" has a short answer: Wix lists its SEO tools as a built in part of its plans rather than as a separate purchase, so what you are buying is the plan. Requested on 26 October 2026 with a Singapore language preference, wix.com/plans served a free tier at 0, then Light at 17.77 a month, Core at 29.77, Business at 39.77 and Business Elite at 159.77, each labelled "Price includes GST". No currency code appeared beside those figures, only a bare dollar sign. And a footnote on the same page states that prices do not include applicable taxes, which are determined according to your billing address, and that the final price can be seen on the purchase page before payment is completed. One page, two different statements about tax. Check the figure on the purchase page before you pay, and keep the screenshot. Our page on what you can and cannot control in Wix SEO covers what the included tools actually reach.
The two GST routes, and which one applies to you
This is the part that is specific to Singapore and that no vendor page explains, because it is a rule about you rather than about them. IRAS states the current GST rate as 9 per cent, read on iras.gov.sg on 26 October 2026. Two regimes decide how that 9 per cent reaches a tool subscription bought from abroad:
- Overseas vendor registration, for business to consumer supplies. IRAS describes this as GST registered overseas vendors accounting for GST on business to consumer supplies of remote services to customers in Singapore, where business to consumer means supplies to persons who are not GST registered, including businesses that are not registered. So if your company is not GST registered, a registered overseas tool vendor charges you the GST and you have nothing to recover.
- Reverse charge, for business to business imports. Under the reverse charge mechanism, IRAS states that the GST registered recipient of the imported services accounts for GST on them as if it were the supplier, and may claim that GST as input tax subject to the normal recovery rules. This has applied to services procured from overseas suppliers since 1 January 2020 for GST registered businesses that are not entitled to full input tax claims.
There is one more line worth knowing before a tool stack grows. IRAS states that registration is required if your taxable turnover, and the total value of your imported services and low value goods, exceeds S$1 million over a 12 month period. Imported services count towards that. A Singapore company spending heavily on overseas software is accumulating a figure that feeds its own registration test.
Separately, do not plan to put a foreign SaaS subscription through a Singapore grant without checking first. Under the EDGE Grant that replaced EDG, MRA and PSG at Enterprise Singapore on 30 September 2026, the GoBusiness FAQ directs vendors of digital solutions to have their solution pre-approved under IMDA's SMEs Go Digital programme, which means the funded supplier has to be an approved one rather than any vendor you happen to like.
The four questions that turn a list price into a budget line
- What is the unit, seats or sites? Count the people who will log in weekly, not the people who were in the demonstration.
- What does the renewal cost? Ask it as a direct question. At least one vendor in this set states on its own page that renewal runs at roughly double the introductory rate.
- Which currency will the card be charged in, and is GST inside the figure? None of the vendors above offered Singapore dollars in a currency selector. Budget the conversion rather than discovering it.
- Can procurement pay by bank transfer against an invoice? Several vendors restrict that to annual billing at higher tiers, which turns a monthly trial into an annual commitment.
Questions Singapore buyers ask about SEO tool and plugin pricing
Will any of these tools bill me in Singapore dollars?
On 26 October 2026 none of the currency selectors we read offered Singapore dollars. Screaming Frog offered US dollars, pounds and euros; Yoast offered US dollars, euros and pounds; Hike offered US dollars and pounds. Budget the foreign currency figure plus the conversion charge, and ask your bank what that charge is on a recurring card payment.
Can I claim the GST back on an overseas SEO subscription?
If your company is GST registered, the reverse charge mechanism lets you account for the GST on imported services and claim it as input tax under the normal recovery rules. If your company is not GST registered, a registered overseas vendor charges the GST under the overseas vendor registration regime and there is nothing to recover. Your own registration status is the whole answer, so settle it before you compare two quotes.
Is a free tool tier enough for a Singapore small business?
For crawling, often yes to begin with. A free 500 URL crawl covers a small Singapore service site completely, and the licence becomes worth buying when you need scheduling, comparison between crawls or the integrations. Buy the licence when you hit the ceiling rather than in anticipation of hitting it.
Why does the same plugin cost more in year two?
Because the first year figure is an introductory one. One vendor in this set publishes that distinction on its own FAQ, giving the Basic renewal as $99 a year against a $49.50 regular price and stating the pattern holds across plans at roughly double the initial rate. Put the renewal figure in the budget, not the launch figure.
Should a Singapore site buy a plugin subscription or a crawler licence first?
The crawler, because it answers a question and the plugin only helps you act on the answer. A crawl tells you how many of your pages are reachable, duplicated or missing a title. Until you know that, a premium plugin is an optimisation of an unknown.
The subscription line a Singapore tool stack does not have yet
Look down the units again. URLs crawled, keywords tracked, backlinks indexed, analysis units consumed, seats occupied. All of them meter the same surface, and not one of them meters the sentence a Singapore buyer actually reads when they ask an assistant who to use. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews reply differently to the same category question here and cite different sources, and no keyword quota touches that. If your company is already paying in US dollars for data about its position, a dated reading of what those five say about your category is the cheapest line you can put next to it. AI Knows Us runs that reading and shows which sources each answer leaned on, and the first one at aiknowsus.com needs no card, which is a pleasant change from everything else on this page.
