Best tool for getting your brand into the lists AI assistants read, compared on whether anybody does the outreach
Six vendors will tell you which sites the engines quote, three publish an agent that acts on it, and the step that actually changes the answer is a pitch somebody has to send.

When an assistant answers who should I use, it is usually summarising other people's lists. So this job has two halves, and almost every tool in the category sells the first one. The first half is finding out which sites the engines quote in your category. The second half is getting your business onto those sites, which is outreach, and software can only take it so far.
Read on 31 October 2026, three vendors publish something that acts rather than reports. Goodie publishes an Outreach Agent on all three tiers. Evertune publishes Partner Connect on Pro and above and describes connecting brands to affiliate partners that can get them mentioned on the sources models cite. AthenaHQ publishes citation source analysis and link building along with press kits built for AI citation. Our own plans publish the manual version of the same thing: ready written pitches, pitches sent from your own email, between 15 and 80 people to pitch found each month depending on plan, and help getting listed on the sites the engines cite for you.
Who reports the sources, and who acts on them
| Vendor | Finds the sources | Acts on them |
|---|---|---|
| Goodie | yes, plus a free AI Visibility Index | Outreach Agent and Social Agent on all tiers |
| Evertune | yes, with source relevance scoring on Pro | Partner Connect on Pro and Enterprise |
| AthenaHQ | yes, citation source analysis | link building and AI ready press kits, Citation Engine on Enterprise |
| Brandlight | yes | a PR route described as securing your place in the outlets AI trusts |
| Scrunch | yes, citations and insights | Agent Pages and page optimisation, on your own site |
| Ahrefs | yes, across an index of 519 million or more prompts | no outreach product |
| Profound | yes | agents for marketing work, no outreach product named on the pricing page |
| AI Knows Us, ours | yes, a map of the sites AI reads in your market | pitches written and sent from your email, 15 to 80 contacts found a month |
The part nobody can automate, and the reason it is the whole job
A list that an assistant quotes is almost always a page a person maintains: a roundup on a trade site, a category on a review platform, a directory, a forum thread with a sticky answer. Getting into one means a person decides to add you, and that decision is made on evidence rather than on a template. Which is why the published measurement to read before you buy anything is whether comparison pages and listicles help or hurt, measured on 507 of our own pages. We published 507 recommendation shaped pages in two days and measured what happened, and the finding is more useful than any vendor claim about citations.
Two free starting points do more for this job than a first month of software. Find out which directories and platforms the assistants in your market actually quote, which for American buyers is counted in 2,860 citations across American local directories. Then claim and complete the profiles on the ones that came up, starting with the review platform your category uses, which for software is usually the one covered in getting your business listed on G2. Neither step needs a subscription and both change what an engine has to read about you.
What to ask about an outreach agent before you pay for it
- Whose name is on the email. A pitch from a vendor's domain is a different thing from a pitch from yours. Ours are sent from your own email, and that is the arrangement to insist on wherever you buy it.
- How many targets a month, and are they named. Our plans publish 15, 40 or 80 contacts found a month by tier. Ask any agent product for the equivalent number rather than a promise of scale.
- What the agent sends when it has nothing to say. An outreach agent with no evidence to offer sends spam under your brand, and the reputational cost of that lands on you rather than on the vendor.
- Whether affiliate relationships are disclosed. Evertune's Partner Connect route involves affiliate partners, and a paid placement that reads as an independent recommendation is a disclosure question in most markets.
- What proof you get that a mention changed an answer. That is the only outcome worth paying for, and it needs a before and after reading on the same question.
Where rivals beat us, said plainly
Goodie puts an outreach agent on its 295 dollar entry plan and publishes a free visibility index on top, so a buyer can start the work before any invoice. Its agent runs automatically where our pitching is worked by hand, which means it scales in a way our cohort does not. Brandlight sells into organisations with a PR team and a budget we do not compete for. And Ahrefs can tell you which sources a whole market cites from an index of 519 million prompts, which is a dataset we have no equivalent of.
Where we are the better purchase is the specific, unglamorous half: a human writes the pitch, it goes from your address, and the plan publishes how many contacts a month it will find. Outreach is the step most of this category sells as a feature and delivers as a report, and our plan table names the number instead.
Questions about getting into the lists assistants quote
Can a tool put my brand in a listicle?
A tool can tell you which listicles matter and draft the pitch. A person on the other site decides whether you go in, which is why the evidence you can offer matters more than the software you buy.
Should I write my own comparison pages too?
Yes, and our own measurement of 507 such pages is the honest account of what that does and does not produce. Treat your own page as the place your claims live and third party lists as where the engines check them.
Which vendor publishes the clearest outreach feature?
Goodie, on three tiers, with the caveat that the page does not publish a target count. Evertune names Partner Connect from Pro upward. AthenaHQ publishes link building and press kits aimed at citation.
Do paid placements work for AI visibility?
They put your name on a page an engine may read, which is the mechanism. The thing to settle first is disclosure, because a placement presented as editorial carries a regulatory problem in several markets and a credibility problem everywhere.
What is the cheapest first move?
Find the three sources the engines quote most in your category, then complete your profile on each one properly. That costs an afternoon, and it is the step most companies skip before buying monitoring.
The measurement that tells you it worked
Pick ten buying questions, record today's answers and the sources under them, do the outreach, then read the same ten questions again a month later. If a new source appears in the citation list and your name appears in the body, the work landed. That loop is cheap, it is the only proof that survives a change of agency, and it is the reason we publish the source map and the pitch count in the same plan rather than selling a dashboard and calling the outreach somebody else's problem.
How we know this
We read the assistants rather than guessing what they do. In our own audit of 1,260 saved answers from ChatGPT and Gemini across the United States, the United Kingdom and India, 82.0% of every citation landed on a site the business itself owned, and review directories took 0.7%. Counted as one domain per reading, 16,516 of 20,143.
That is the whole asymmetry: the pages you own are the pages an assistant quotes back to a buyer. See the dated readings and the method on our proof page.
Find out whether assistants name your business, on your own domain and your own buying questions.
